GPS mobile phones
There seems to have been a burst of new GPS mobile phones with a few being released in the next quarter. A few that stand out are the Nokia 6710 Navigator that is already out there to purchase, the others not available to buy yet are the Nokia N8 and the T Mobile Garminfone. We're not talking about your bog standard GPS tracking phones, we are talking about the ones with the edge, with something more to offer than the rest like Ovi Maps, WisePilot, Garmin Navigation, the list goes on to what software mobile phone manufacturers have added to make these GPS phones into mini satellite navigation systems.
What is GPS?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System, It figures out your exact location using a satellite, it can tell you exactly where you are are where your nearest pub or shop is. A GPS is assisted GPS, this basically improves the startup performance of the GPS. WiFi GPS phone positioning has the same concept, it defines you geographical location. There are also many map applications you can download onto your phone some will cost you money some won't. Ovi Maps and Google Maps™ are both free. Ovi maps even offer a free in car charger and screen mount with purchases for some of the Nokia range like the N97, 6710 Navigator & Nokia X6. Many phones now come with a digital compass, some of the older phones with maps never had this and you would get directions to head north west, when you don't have the digital compass how do you know where north west is? Things have really improved since then.
Latest GPS Phones.
Nokia released the 6710 Navigator in the 3rd quarter of 2009. It comes with A GPS navigation and Nokia Maps 3.0. You can also download Ovi Maps to your phone , adding all of your favourite places to go and share them with other people. The latest Nokia phone with a great navigation system is the Nokia N8, Nokia have downloaded the Ovi map voice guidance for anywhere in the world in car or on foot application for you for free. You also have GPS with AGPS, WiFI positioning, Digital Compass and Nokia Maps application so all these great aspects lead to a fantastic navigation system for such an already amazing mobile phone. Another great phone due to be released this year is the T-mobile Garminfone, as the name states it comes with the Garmin navigation system. Some of the great GPS features will be the voice guided navigation, text-to-speech directions and lane direction and junction view. You can also record your own voice directions and share them using the Garmin voice studio application, not only do you get all these great features but you can also use your mobile GPS phone to find all of the best restaurant, get cinema times, traffic conditions, fuel prices and even the weather forecast. There is no end to what these GPS mobile phones are capable of.
