Samsung phones is the second largest mobile phone manufacturer in the world, they are part of of Samsung Electronics with their head office based in Suwon in South Korea. In 2007 Samsung phones announced a 40% growth and in 2008 they were providing 15.6% of the mobile phone market. Samsung's profit margins have gradually been creeping up and making Samsung phones a very big contender in the mobile phone market.
Samsung produced there fist mobile phone in 1988 calling it the SH-100. The SH-100 was the first mobile phone to ever be made in Korea and even though new Samsung phones were introduced every year they only sold a few thousand of each due to lack interest. 1993 was the year Samsung phones luck changed, with years of research into producing the best possible mobile phone they released the SH-700. The SH-700 was a lot lighter than it's rivals handsets and had a very compact design. Samsung took pride in the quality of their Samsung phones, so much so any handset that wasn't perfect was burnt in front of the workforce. In 1994 Samsung released an upgraded version of the SH-700, they called this the SH-770, with strong market campaigns they managed to increase sales by 51.5% in 1995. Samsung phones first digital handset the SCH-100 CDMA phone was slim and light, appealing to the younger generation of mobile phone users. By the end of April 1997 they had sold over one million Samsung SCH-100. Since then Samsung have gone from strength to strength releasing some of the best mobile phones available on the market today.
