LG recently announced a super sleek touch screen phone - LG BL40 Chocolate Black Label and again within a month the Korean mobile manufacturing giant has announced another “New Chocolate,” which is called LG BL20 New Chocolate. This new model is not a touch screen device. The term new chocolate perfectly blends with the design and appearance of the mobile phone. It looks delicately yummy and the users, especially the girls are going to love this handset. The handset was revealed at IFA 2009 in Berlin and it is touted as the sibling of LG BL40. LG BL20 New Chocolate promises to provide right blend of good looks and powerful features. Whether it lives up to its commitment or not, we have to see.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – The Design
This modern interpretation of LG BL40 is perfect in terms of look and feel. The LG Chocolate BL20 belongs to the Black label series and this one is a slider. The colour combination of the mobile phone is truly electrifying. The entire body is black in colour, but the numeric key pad is sparkling red. The keypad comes out after the phone is slid opened. The frontal part of the phone without opening the slid features the vital control keys. These keys are placed just below the screen. There are four navigation keys surrounding the central key. Selection key is on the left side and back key is on the right. These keys are highlighted by red back-lit. The display screen of LG BL20 New Chocolate is of 2.4 inches and it provides 262,000 colour QVGA display. There is no S-class user interface in the device, probably because of the fact that LG wants to keep it only for the touch screen phones.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – Data Transfer and Connectivity
LG BL20 New Chocolate is supportive to quad band GSM network of 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 MHz and global roaming is adequately done. The device is also 3G supportive and hence high speed data transfer is possible with this new chocolate. Some of the vital connectivity features of the phone are WAP 2.0, HTML and XHTML. In addition, data transfer from / to other compatible device is possible with USB 2.0 and Bluetooth®.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – The Multimedia features
LG BL20 New Chocolate is loaded with attractive multimedia features in the form of video playback, music player and FM Radio. Video playback is quite impressive as the picture quality and sound maintains good clarity. The video playback supports MPEG4 file format. Like the video, music is also impressive in LG BL20 New Chocolate. The music player can play music files in the formats of WAV, WMA and MP3.Most importantly; the users can manage the music files perfectly so that they can be easily sorted out according to the name of the song, genre, albums, artists, bands, etc. Music can also be listened by connecting the phone with a headset. BL20 New Chocolate features stereo Bluetooth® and hence the users can enjoy wireless music.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – The Memory
When the phone is loaded with attractive video playback and music features; it must also provide good memory back up. There is no point in having such excellent features and running short of memory. Considering this aspect, LG BL20 New Chocolate feature integrated memory of 130 mega bytes that can store decent amount of data. Apart from that, there is an option for expanding memory also as the device comes with microSD/microSDHC memory slot. The range of expandable memory is up to 8 gigabytes.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – The Camera
The camera of LG BL20 New Chocolate is probably its major highlight. With 5 mega pixel resolution, the quality of images is quite immaculate. In addition to that, the snapper includes high end features such as Auto focus, Flash, Digital zoom and CMOS image sensor. With auto focus and flash features, the handset is capable of clicking good quality images even when the lighting condition is not good. LG BL20 New Chocolate comes with an additional camera for video calls. The bl-40 model’s camera is also the same but there are some other features also – geo tagging, smile, face and blink detection. It is not known whether LG BL20 includes these features or not.
LG BL20 New Chocolate – The Common Features
The common features of a mobile phone can be categorized into different sections such as PIM, Voice, Phone Book, Email, Battery, etc. Now, let's find out what the new chocolate carries in terms of these specifications. PIM features include converter, memo, to do, calculator, world clock and alarm; Voice feature includes speaker phone and recording facilities; Phone book supports caller groups, 1000 names, ring ID, picture ID, and multiple numbers per contact; and finally, IMAP/ POP3/ SMTP Email. The device is powered by Li – Ion battery.
To sum it up, LG BL20 New Chocolate has everything that makes it a high end device. In terms of looks, feel and features, the New Chocolate delivers promisingly.
