LG GT505 is a perfect candy bar mobile phone that comes with excellent features like five mega pixel camera with auto focus and geo tagging facilities, an expandable memory that can be expanded up to massive 16 GB, downloadable ring tones (both polyphonic and MP3) along with composer, speaker phone, internet, etc. The phone is a complete device that will attract the mobile hopping generation tremendously. The design of the phone is elegant and at the same time the functionalities are convenient too. We will discuss about the features of LG GT505 in more details in this review. Let’s begin with the look and the appearance of the phone. The LG GT505 was released along side the LG GW520.
LG GT505 Review – The Look
LG GT505 looks extremely stylish, sophisticated and elegant. The screen of the phone is very large and thus it is very easy to navigate and use the menus according to the requirements of the user. Due to the large size of the phone, accessibility becomes easy and the applications also open very fast. Now, let’s check out the design of LG GT505. The body of the phone is smooth black. However, black is the color of casing only but most of the portion of the device is covered by its large touch screen LCD.
LG GT505 – The Keys
This is a touch screen device and hence all the menus and keys are placed on the screen itself. However there are call keys for making the call and disconnecting the call on left and right bottom of the phone respectively. In the middle, there is a key for capturing images. The touch screen LCD of LG GT505 is three inches in size and offers a clear display that is clear and viewable with no trouble. This gives the user great liberty to modify the frontal look of the phone. He can put the contact list and get easy access whenever he needs to make call or he can give the entertainment aspect more importance and feature the music menu and image and video galleries on top of the screen.
LG GT505 Review – Camera
LG GT505 features an immaculate camera. The five mega pixel camera of the device can capture images with 2592 x 1944 pixels. Also, the features like auto focus and LED Flash makes sure that images can be taken at any sort of light conditions but the quality and the clarity of the image will be magnificent. Positioning of the camera is also done excellently in the phone, which makes the user to click photographs very conveniently and instantly. Do you think that this is it with the camera feature of LG GT505? No, it is not over yet. LG GT505 brings on a GPS navigation system that allows the user to take pleasure in the feature of geo tagging where the phone stores the location where the photo has been automatically taken. This feature provides the user with a chance to remember those special moments not just by the picture but also by the location where the picture are taken. Now, there is another camera on LG GT505, the video call camera. Enjoy the experience of 3G video calling where you can view the face of the person you are calling, if the device used at the other end also supports video call feature.
LG GT505 – Media player
You can easily record video files by using the camera of LG GT505. Put the camera into the video mode and take the video shots with immaculate ease. The video player of the pone can play the video files in various formats. Not just the recorded video, the user can also download new videos or exchange videos from other devices though data transfers.
Music is the most effective form of entertainment and no mobile phone is complete without the music features. Having a quality music player within the mobile phone is very effective as the user is required to carry a mobile phone as well as a music player like iPods separately. LG GT505 gives out an opportunity to the user to load his/her favorite tracks and arrange the play list in a systematic manner. Then the user can easily play the music file by sorting out according to the album, artist or genre, etc. LG GT505 music player supports MP3 and other popular varieties of music files.
LG GT505 – Applications
LG GT505 incorporates phone book where the name and numbers of the contacts are saved. Phone book can be placed in the main menu of display for easy accessibility. You can also save images against the contacts so that whenever you make or receive call to/from that particular contact, the image will be displayed. As LG GT505 is a touch screen device, managing contacts via phonebook is very simple.
LG GT505 is a high speed connectivity device. The web browser of the phone is supportive to both HTML and XHTML and the 3G HSDPA technology uses them to provide flawless internet experience. Even you can enjoy wireless internet connectivity in LG GT505 as it features the technology of WLAN Wife®. Accessing the social networking websites like MySpace and Facebook is seamlessly with this phone. LG GT505 works with GSM tri band network that covers GSM 900, GSM 1800 & GSM 1900 along with HSDPA 2100 network for smooth 3G network coverage.

Great phone! Easy to read and using my bigger fingers great to 'tap' the keys. Nice bright display (including the clock).
As everyone might mention - start using the graphics and the battery does not last long. I'll not be using the maps as Orange is after a fiver a month. I could just imagine being lost, using the GPS and the battery dying! LOL

I got this phone as a free upgrade and now wish I'd stuck to Nokia. I don't like text set up as you have to keep setting predictive text as it does not stay on. Even when locked it sends texts or makes a call when it's in your pocket.I've had problems with the battery life and the phone getting hot when charging. The phone only holds it's cahrge for 7 hours after being on charge all night. I'm waiting for a replacement phone coming and hope it's better.
Not sure how I stand with Orange changing the model if the replacement is also the same.
GOOD POINTS. The camera is great. Clear pictures and easy to use camera. Sound is also spot on.

My previous phone, the LG Viewty, made me interested in all the other phones LG had to offer by the time my upgrade was available. After hearing many bad reviews of the Viewty Smart I decided to go for the GT505.
Unfortunately, LG have decided to change just about everything possible from the Viewty making it a difficult transition (so difficult I gave up) from the Viewty to the GT505; so if you like the Viewty, this isn’t the phone for you.
A few of the problems: You don’t always receive a text until you unlock the keypad (very annoying). The phone doesn’t remember if you use predictive text (or not). The keypad buttons are too small. You can’t rename profiles. The earpiece is far too loud (although this can be altered, prefer for a shock the first time you speak to someone). The ‘c’ button from the Viewty is now a pointless menu button. Signal strength can be very poor.
Good points: Battery life; I gave it a twelve hour charge the day I got the phone and then it had a better battery life than my Viewty. The internet was fast. Impressive camera
Overall, LG have let themselves down by changing things that didn’t need to be changed. I’ll be going back to a Nokia who know what needs advancing, and what is just fine as it is!

Very good phone, not so good battery life, however if you use your phone just for calls and texts during the day, plus the odd photo. Then you should be fine, However overall battery life is very poor! Still i gave it four stars because if an improved battery this phone could be very good, still if you don't mind charging it up for an hour every night, then the phone is well worth it :)

Got this phone new and was massively impressed with all its features. was my first touch screen, and it definitely didn't disappoint. the keys were very nicely placed and it was surprisingly accurate.
the problem however is the battery, this phone HAS to be charged EVERY night. at first i thought it was teething problems but it kept happening how ever many settings i changed. the battery just goes from high to dead within an hour and i could not rely upon it. what point is a mobile phone that u NEED to carry a charger for wherever it goes. sent the phone back and heard many others have had the same problems.
This phone is awesome when the charger is attached but unless you want to permanently have the charger attached i would not recommend getting this phone

I love this phone, it's easy to use, looks stylish and great for social networking.
HOWEVER the battery life is terrible. Like the other reviews, battery life lasts no more than a day and at worst, only 6 hours! At the end of the day, you want a working phone, not one attatched to the charger!
I plan on taking this back to Orange asap!

I got this phone just over a week ago. Really like the handset, nice looking and easy to use, but battery life is appalling! I was convinced it was faulty so recieved a replacement, and this one is just as bad! With fairly infrequent use, the battery life seems to last a maximum of 6 hours which is useless. I plan on returning it asap.

Great phone, amazing feature set,not the build quality of iphone nor the apps, but in general all you will need on an all-round phone, battery life is fine, just make sure your wifi setting is'nt left on as this seems to drain battery quickly, only turn your wifi on when you need to use it. Still amazed at this phone, got it as free upgrade on orange, well worth it.

Nice handset ruined by poor battery life. I've not made a call and not sent an sms, but after just over a day it's down to empty.
Do I really have to keep it plugged into a charger to make calls?!
Your photo should include the charger too, as you'll be needing that as much as you need your phone.
Useless...
