LG GW990 review

LG GW990 review

LG GW990 is a huge mobile phone is every aspect. It is the first handset that is developed on the Moorestown platform by Intel, and it uses the operating system of Moblin Linux. The interface of this operating system is similar to that of Android. LG has brought in Moblin with its S-Class user interface and due to that, the icons appear big and colourful and also feature some high end 3D effects. It features an Intel Atom processor that makes less consumption of energy. The appearance of the mobile phone is like a solid brick with huge touch screen display of 4.8 inches. It seems that LG GW990 is ready to leave the other big touch screen devices like HTC HD Mini, samsung-s-8500-wave, and Sony Ericsson Vivaz PRO way behind in competition as far as the size of the screen is concerned. LG GW990 has been announced in the Mobile World Congress 2010, and it is expected to release in 2010.

So far, we have seen the war of supremacy between apple-i-phone-3gs and HTC Google Nexus One. However, the third angle has definitely made its way in the form of the LG GW990. The display screen of GW990 is much larger than the Google branded device and the iPhone. Both LG GW990 and the Nexus One comes with a 1GHz clock speed processor, which is supreme than what iPhone 3GS has to offer. It seems that LG GW990 is going to hold a strong position in the market, until Apple makes a bang with iPhone 4G.

LG GW990 Review – the network and connectivity

LG GW990 is a high end smart phone that is loaded with a huge number exciting specifications and features. However, the success of a mobile phone is dependant hugely on the smooth flow of the basic features and network is the core of any mobile phone. LG GW990 brings good news for both the users of 2G and 3G network. The handset will be supportive 2G network with the quad band GSM- 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900. The 3G users will get the support of the dual band HSDPA 900/ 2100. With 3G, the data browsing speed is also top-notch. It can perform at high speed with HSDPA 7.2 mbps. Apart from that, there are Wi Fi 802.11 b/Gateways along with Class 10 GPRS (32 – 48 kbps) and CLASS 10 EDGE (236.8 kbps). Connectivity option is as crucial as the network feature of a mobile phone. The users definitely need to transfer data to/from other compatible handsets in the form of images, music, videos, games, themes, or any other applications. LG GW990 provides support to both with-wire and wireless connectivity for transferring data. You can make use of USB for data transfers with cable, where for wireless transfers, Bluetooth® is available.

LG GW990 – the memory

If a mobile phone is not supported with a good memory option, then all the other high-end functionalities are affected. Generally, the smart phones come with lots of applications and features and these apps can run effortlessly and uninterruptedly only if the memory support is good. There is definitely no point in using such a phone that promises excellent music features, but the music player is unable to store good number of music files. LG GW990 is definitely not like such types of phones. The handset has included 16 GB in a flash memory of 512 MB of RAM and this much of memory is definitely better than the memory of 4 GB internal memory of Nexus One. Therefore, by using the LG GW990 you can store quite a huge number files and application.
