LG GX300 review

LG GX300 review

The LG GX300 is one of the latest mobile phones from the manufacturer along with the LG GM360 Viewty Snap and the LG GW910. However, the handset is not like the feature-rich high end smart phones that we have mentioned above. It is mainly targeted at the entry level users that want a good mobile phone with an affordable price tag. The GX300 will provide a good handset for the user with its shiny bright TFT display, simple yet attractive looks, and the dual SIM (dual stand by) factor. LG has already announced the arrival of the handset officially and it is expected to arrive in the market very soon. With a TFT display, 2 mega pixel camera, microSD™ card slot, Bluetooth® v2.0 with A2DP, stereo FM with RDS and Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery, the handset seems to be a good deal for the users that want affordable mobile phone handsets with attractive features. We have featured a detailed review of the mobile phone based on the specifications mentioned by LG.

LG GX300 – The Dual Sim (Dual Standby)

This is one of the best features of this mobile phone. With the facility of Dual SIM, the users can enjoy the features of two network providers in a single mobile phone. If you have to make a call to certain destination where the call charge is less in SIM 1 in comparison to SIM 2, then you can easily select SIM 2 for making the call without replacing the SIM 1 from the mobile phone. You can always have connections for two of best network providers and use their services as you wish. So you are getting good value for your money by investing in mobile phone like the GX300 by LG.

LG GX300 Review – the design

The LG GX300 is a low cost mobile phone that follows the candy bar designing style. The design is simple yet attractive for this range of the mobile handsets. The borders of the handset are slightly curved, which gives a distinct appeal and also ensures the comfort factor to hold the device. The complete black casing enhances the style quotient and the metallic bordering makes it quite appealing. On the frontal portion of the phone, you will find the display screen and the alpha numeric keypad. On top of the display, “Dual SIM” is written, which clearly marks the most important highlight of the phone. Just below the display, the logo of LG is featured and under that, you will find the major functional keys such as selection key, back key, and navigating key at the middle along with the call button and end-call button. The size of the display screen is 2.2 inches and it has a TFT display screen. On the side panel, you will find the USB and battery charging ports. On the back panel, the lens of the 2 mega pixel camera can be seen. Overall the display and the design of the LG GX300 provide a good combination of style and simplicity.

LG GX300 – the memory

LG's GX300 is not a high-end feature-rich smart phone that includes top class applications and functions. Therefore the requirement of storage capacity of the handset is not very high. Some of the major features of the mobile phone include music player, video playback, games, email support, etc. It is evident that not much of the memory back up is essential on the LG GX300. However the device provides the option of expanding memory up to 4 GB by using an microSD™ card. The users need to purchase a memory card separately as the device is not providing any at the time of purchase. The internal memory of the mobile phone is 30 MB and this much of storage capacity can maintain the records of up to 1000 phone book entries and some data of call records.

LG GX300 Review – network and connectivity

Simple features are the core of the GX300 by LG. Do not expect the power of Wi Fi or 3G on this mobile phone. It is supportive of the quad band GSM services on the 2G network, which are 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900 for SIM 1 as well as SIM 2. This means you can use two network connections at the same time by placing two SIM cards in the dual SIM holder. Data accessibility is powered by only Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) at the speed of 32 to 48 kbps and there is also EDGE technology. However, you can send and receive files from other compatible devices by using both wire-based and wireless connection. For wire-based connection, there is USB v2.0 and for wireless connectivity you can use Bluetooth® v2.0 with A2DP. The browser support of the mobile phone is provided by WAP 2.0/ xHTML and HTML.

LG GX300 –Camera

The Camera is one of the most vital features of a mobile phone. Having a camera is a must in every mobile handset and the quality of the camera varies according to the standard of the mobile phone. The popularity of the camera integrated in handsets can be well understood as there are several camera-specific mobile phones in the market with 5 mega pixel, 8 mega pixel or even a 12 mega pixel snappers. However, do not expect anything near to those high-end cameras with the LG GX300. It only boasts a 2 mega pixel snapper that provides a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. Considering the range of the mobile phone, the inclusion of a 2 mega pixel camera seems to be a good move. There are several entry level mobile phones with VGA cameras and in comparison to that 2 MP is really a good choice.

Apart from the camera features, good entertainment can be enjoyed with the music player and the video playback system. The music player can play MP3/ WAV/ eAAC+ files while the video playback is capable of playing MP4 and H.264.
