LG KS660 review

The LG KS660 touchscreen mobile phone is the latest offering from LG. It has followed in the footsteps by offering the KS660 as a dual SIM card handset. This basically means you can run 2 contracts on the one phone, ideal for users who have a business contract for work aswell as a personal contract which they use in the evenings and weekends. The LG KS660 weighs in at 110 grams and is 105mm x 55mm x 15mm in size. The 3.0 inch TFT resistive touchscreen on the front of the handset uses 256k colours and has a resolution of 240 x 400 pixels. Internally you will only find 80 megabytes of memory but you can off course upgrade your memory by using a MicroSD™ card. Upto 8 GB of extra storage is supported by this method. The standard battery provided with this handset gives up to 250 hours of standby time or up to 3.5 hours of talk time, let’s hope your not too chatty!
LG KS660 Review – Connectivity & Camera
Unfortunately there are a few areas within connectivity which let the LG KS660 down, the first and most major one is no 3G support. However you will be pleased to hear it does support 2G networks (GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900). Other wireless connectivity includes GPRS (usually used for sat nav), Bluetooth® v2 with A2DP and EDGE. If you prefer to connect to other devices using a wires then make use of USB 2.0 support which gives super fast data transfer between devices.
The LG KS660 has a 5.0 megapixel camera with a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. To ensure your photos are in focus LG have included autofocus and a LED flash which is great to use when talking pictures in the evening when the light begins to fade. If you like talking videos then this can also be done on the LG KS660 up to a rate of 15 frames per second.
LG KS660 Review – Tools
The KS 660 handset lets you do the usually stuff like sending text and multimedia messages as well as send and receive emails. If you like to surf the internet then use the built-in browser which fully supports HTML, this is the standard technology for my most websites just like this site. The stereo FM radio is great if you like to listen to the radio, very handy if you commute to work via public transport and are getting sick of the tunes on your ipod! Or you could just leave your iPod at home and use the built-in media player which the KS 660 provides. You can play a variety of file formats including MP3/WMA/RA/AAC+, this should cover most platforms. Maybe watching videos you’ve filmed from the night before is your chosen way of passing the time. The onboard media player lets you watch back video in MPEG4/H.263/H.264/RV formats which again covers most file types you will need. Finally we just need to mention that the KS 660 has a organizer and document viewer which is very handy if you receive a lot of files via emails, saves waiting to get home before you can open them.
LG KS660 Review – Summary
As we have seen if your after a dual SIM card phone then the KS660 will be a handset you should be looking at. The only downer for us is the lack of 3G which we think every phone should have if it is due to be released in the UK. All the other features on the LG KS660 are about average, theres nothing really to shout about nor features that are really bad that we would need to highlight. If anything, its just a little dull compared to some of the amazing phones we have seen released in 2009.
