It seems like there is a flood in the market of mobile telephony. All the leading manufacturers of the mobile phone market are coming up with latest handsets. There were several announcements of new mobile phones such as Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, Nokia 5330 Mobile TV Edition, LG Shine II, etc in the month of November itself. Here, we are going to analyze the latest handset from the house of LG Electronics – the LG Shine II. The earlier version of this phone, LG KE970 Shine was very popular and it did excellent business. Now, we have to watch out what more the successor has to offer. AT&T will market this latest handset by LG, which comes with various utility features and glossy exterior. Some of the hot-shot features of the mobile phone are 2.2 inches LCD display where the users can view videos with Java™ support’ listen to music with the efficient music player and download files directly into the device.

LG Shine II - What’s new

LG Shine II is the successor of the popular LG Shine, so let’s find out what is new in this handset. If you consider the design of both the phones, you will not find any significant change. The corners are same fine and rounded like the first Shine. Even the metal case also looks similar. Considering the current dimensions, the display size of 2.2 inches appears a bit restricted. One of the significant additions with Shine II is the technology of Multi-Angle Vision.’ This technology enables the phone to clearly display information from a broader range of angles. This feature is commonly available in the digital cameras.

LG Shine II – Display

LG Shine II comes in the market with glossy silver body and well rounded shiny border. This is a slider phone and it looks sleek enough. On top of the screen, the logo of AT&T is encrypted as it is marketed by that particular carrier. At the bottom end of the screen, you can find the logo of LG. Below the logo, the major functioning keys are provided and these keys can access menus, scroll through the texts, take and make calls, etc. When the phone is slid open, the numeric keypad appears. There is dedicated call and end buttons in the keypad also. Now, let’s take a detailed view on the display features of the phone. As mentioned above, the size of the screen is 2.2 inches and it is a TFT type screen that displays 256,000 colours with the resolution of 240 x 320 pixels.

LG Shine II Review – Network

LG Shine II works on the 3G network of HSDPA and 2G network of the quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900. Therefore, the network features are quite good and the users can avail a good service. Connectivity aspects are taken care by Class 10 (4+1/3+2 slots) with the speed of 32 - 48 kbps and Class 10 EDGE with 236.8 kbps. 3.6 Mbps HSDPA ensures super fast internet access and connectivity. To transfer and exchange data to/from a different mobile phone or any compatible device, Bluetooth® and microUSB can be used. If you want to use USB, then you need to set up connection with the USB cable and for wireless access, you can use Bluetooth®.

LG Shine 2 Review – Camera

When an average user thinks of purchasing a mobile phone, there are few common features that he/she judges and camera feature is one of them. No matter how good the other features of the phone are, the camera option will be scrutinized. Let’s check out what LG Shine II brings as its snapper. The handset features a camera that can click pictures with the resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. This is a two mega pixel camera and it also includes LED flash so that good quality pictures can be taken even when the condition of lights is not good enough. Built-in editing software is provided by the help of which you can edit the images. There is no secondary camera for video recording in Shine II.

LG Shine II – Music and Video

Just like the camera, there are dedicated section of customers who purchase mobile phones by analysing the music features. Shine II includes a built-in music player along with a programmable equalizer and music memory software. The music player is capable of playing different music files such as MP3, eAAC+ and WAV. Therefore, the music experience is quite nice in the handset. Furthermore, featuring is the media player where you can play videos of different formats like MP4, H.263, and H.264.

LG Shine 2 – Memory

Presently, when the mobile phones are being released with the capability of holding wide range of features and applications, it is extremely essential to provide the mobile phone with good memory support. Not much of details about the memory features of LG Shine II is known so far. However, we have information that the device is not provided with card slot for expanding memory. If this is true, then it is a major disadvantage of the phone. However, the built-in memory can maintain 2000 phonebook entries and photocall along with fifty call records of received, dialled and missed calls.
