The Nokia 3710 Fold is the latest in a line of eco friendly handsets to be released with 80% of the handset recyclable and an energy efficient charger with an unplug charger reminder. Nokia have designed the 3710 Fold in a great looking clamshell design, similar to the 3610 Fold but with great art design on the casing to give it that personal touch. It also comes in a range of colours, black, pink and plum. Nokia have made the 3710 Fold a compact little phone at just 89 x 47 x 15.2mm and weighing just 94 grams but they haven’t scrimped on some great features. There are two screen on this compact mobile phone, the main screen is a 2.2 inch TFT screen that has an impressive 16 million colours and 240 x 320 pixel resolution so it is very clear and bright. The second and external screen is a TFT monochrome display with 128 x 160 pixel resolutions. This screen becomes active when a text message is displayed or a call comes through. The battery life of the Nokia 3710 Fold is a moderate four hours GSM talk time and three hours WCDMA talk time. There is plenty of storage in the 3710 Fold with 70 Megabytes of internal memory and with the option of adding a microSD™ card for up to 8 Gigabytes.

Considering the 3710 Fold is a small compact little phone is has an pretty impressive 3.2 megapixel camera with a 4x digital zoom, LED flash with flash modes, full focus and various modes including screen modes, capture modes and colour tone modes, please see our spec below for all of these in more detail. There is a hidden camera icon in Navi Key with zoom keys on the side of the handset which doubles up as the music volume keys. To customize your photo’s you can use the photo editor, rotating, cropping and adding clipart or frames to your photos or view all your pictures on the photo gallery. All your pictures are sorted on a timeline but you can create photo albums and slide shows to show all your friends and family those precious moments. You can also send you pictures via Email, MMS or Ovi share.

Nokia have also added a video recording facility using 3GP format and audio recording using AMR, there is also a 4x digital video zoom so no funny moments can go un-captured. There are a number of video modes with automatic white balance and colour tone modes. Video playback is great quality as the Nokia 3710 Fold supports 3GPP, MP4, H.263, H.264, AVI, ASF, VC-1 SP, MPEG-4, VC-1 MP and 3GPP formats. You can also use the video streaming function and view all those precious moments is landscape movie playback mode. If you like to see the person you are talking to then you can always use the 2 way video calling function.

Nokia have given the 3710 Fold a great music player that supports a number of music files including MP3, Midi, AAC, AAC+, enhanced AAC+ and WMA formats, these give you great quality music. You can listen to your downloaded music or use the built-in stereo FM radio with the 2.5 mm Nokia audio connector while you are on the go. There are also dedicated volume keys so you don’t need to keep opening your phone to adjust the volume. If you get bored with standard alarm clock tones on your mobile phone the Nokia 3710 Fold has a radio alarm clock so you can be woken up by your favorite radio DJ’s. Customizing you phone is easy as the 3710 supports AAC, MP3, MIDI and True tones ring tones.

If you spend a lot of time browsing, shopping or using social networking sites on the internet then the Nokia 3710 is a great phone to have, it supports HTML, WML, and XHTML mark-up languages and supports HTTP, HTTPS and WAP protocols giving you fast and easy internet access. If you use your mobile phone abroad Nokia have added Quad-band GSM 1900/1800/900/850 with automatic search between these bands to give you the best connectivity. The 3710 Fold also supports WCDMA 2100/1900/850 and GPRS and EDGE technologies. You can attach a USB cable to a compatible devise to your handset so you can download or print and pictures or documents you may have on your phone. Like most mobile phones these days there is also Bluetooth® connectivity so sharing music and pictures is simple.

You can keep in touch with the outside world using the messaging functions as the Nokia 3710 Fold has SMS, MMS (multi media messaging), audio and instant messaging but if you prefer to keep on touch by email you can, it supports POP, SMTP and IMAP protocols and you can also receive emails with attachments. If like me your messaging inbox gets full and you get annoyed as your phone will only let you delete one message at a time, well you will be annoyed no longer as the Nokia 3710 Fold has multiple SMS deletion, a must have for all you text obsessed people out there!

There are a number of great functions to use on your Nokia 3710 Fold, there is Integrated A GPS and Nokia Maps applications so you can’t get lost. There is flight mode but this can only be used when the pilot of your aero plane tells you that you can use this mode, there are contacts with images, various call logs, conference calls and any key answer. The Nokia 3710 Fold is a great sexy little number with some great functions, a good camera and a pretty good music player, the screen may not be suitable if you use your internet and email for work purposes but all round it’s a reasonable priced mobile phone that I am sure will bring many people lots of joy.
