For the mobile phone lovers, Nokia is a name that boasts dependability. Nokia has added yet another feather in its cap by presenting its new Nokia 3720. All Nokia users, here is a good news for you. This device is going to be the water resistant phone from Nokia that is expected to be out in the market September onwards. Though the exact date of its release is yet not known and with its immaculate features, the wait is worth it. The market of such water resistant tough phones is emerging very fast and Nokia did the right thing by announcing the arrival of 3720. If Nokia 3720 retain to the roots of its 3000 cell phone series, then it is going to be a device to watch out for. Nokia 3720 will run on S40 Symbian operating system or S60 Symbian operating system edition is yet to be seen. We will keep you informed about all the latest updates regarding Nokia 3720.
The earlier version of Nokia phones have never explored in the arena of tough and rugged phones. But, with 3720, Nokia is planning to change the scenario. This device is going to be a complete waterproof and dust proof phone that is going to come with an IP54 certification.
Nokia 3720 is not the first phone that will come with water resistant technology; these sort of tough phones are already in the market. Samsung and Sonim have already introduced such rugged phones. The rugged phones of Samsung came even before the famous B2100 and B2700 range from the Xplorer. Sonim brought this variety of tough phones from the XP3 Enduro in December last year. Therefore Nokia 3720 will be competing with these devices. The advantage of Nokia 3720 is that it is going to be completely shock proof apart from dust and water. Well the matter is to be seen is whether Nokia 3720 can match up to the level of Sonim S1 IP-67 rated mobile phone, which is considered among the best phones in this range. Sonim S1 can even take a complete dunk, what will be the resistibility of Nokia 3720? Let’s wait and watch.
There has been a considerable gap since Nokia released their last water and dust resistant phone. The earlier version of water and dust resistant phone by Nokia was Nokia 5500 Sport. Nokia 5500 ran on Symbian Operating System but as mentioned earlier, the operating system on which Nokia 3720 will run is yet not known. Though from the picture that is leaked online on the Dutch site MobileCowboys.nl, it seems that it will be an S40 device. It is expected that T-Mobile is going to tie-up with Nokia to bring 3720 model in the market and the expected time is around September this year.
The Nokia 3720 will come with features like a 2.2 inch QVGA screen, MP3 player, FM radio, 3.2 mega pixel camera, USB 2.0, Bluetooth® 2.0, and memory card expansion. The size of main display will be 2.2 inch and the resolution will be 320 x 240 pixels (QVGA). Features up to 16.7 million colors and includes TFT.
Nokia 3720 Imaging & Music
Nokia 3720 comes with 3.2 mega pixel camera complete with wide range of settings and functions. Photos are likely to be stored in JPEG format and the quality of imaging is expected to be good. The device features built-in MP3 Player and FM Radio. You can create play list in the music player and listen to your favorite song.

Connectivity of Nokia 3720 is maintained via Bluetooth® 2.0. You can transfer data using Bluetooth® as well as USB 2.0.

Okay, but seen betterThis would be my phone of choice, hands down, if not for one dealbreaker;
The reception on this phone is absolutely terrible. I couldn't pick up ANY networks in my house with it whilst my old Nokia phone and my fiancees phones had 2-4 bars.
I think they got a bit carried away with making it impervious to water, which meant that it's also impervious to outgoing and incoming calls.
I love the sturdyness and the practicality of the design, and I'm a loyal Nokia user, so I was quite disappointed to have to return this one.

Good mobile phoneI dropped my (2 week old) 3720 into some paint today. I turned the phone off (it was still ringing) and washed it using a toothbrush under cold running water. Phone worked fine when i turned it on although there was some condensation in the screen. Left it on the radiator for a few hours and now appears to be fine apart from a slight water mark on the screen which i hope will fade... pretty pleased, i'm always breaking phones!
