Nokia 5220 XpressMusic
Nokia 5220 XpressMusic

Nokia have added two new phones to its XpressMusic range, the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic. The Nokia 5220 XpressMusic is not as smart as the Nokia 5320 XpressMusic but it offers a bar shaped design and a slim body which is only 10.5mm thick. The majority of the mobile phones surface is black in colour which is jazzed up with either bright red, blue or green colour around the edge of the handset and around the navigation keys. The Nokia 5220 comes with a 2 inch screen (240 x 320 pixels) and uses 262k of colours making the screen very bright. Other phones in the XpressMusic range include the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic, Nokia 5310 XpressMusic and the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic, all these mobile phones are targeted towards users who love their music.

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic - Music Player

The built in enhanced S40 music player supports all the major formats such as MP3, M4A, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA music formats. There are dedicated music keys which allow the user to play/pause or forward and rewind. The Nokia 5220 has a built-in light effect that pulses to the rhythm of the music. The Audio quality with the Nokia 5220 XpressMusic really is top quality, due to the dedicated audio chip. User can listen to their favourite radio station via the stereo FM radio which comes complete with RDS (Radio Data System) for viewing information about their favourite radio station on the 5220 bright screen. The Nokia 5220 XpressMusic also features stereo Bluetooth™(A2DP) which is great for sharing music with your friends, a 3.5 mm audio jack allowing universal headphones to be used with this handset and a MicroSD™ memory card slot. A 512MB MicroSD memory card is included with this mobile phone but this can be upgraded to 8 gigabytes allowing you to store up to 2000 of your favourite songs. There is a pre-installed link to Nokia’s music stores if you feel the need to download further music. According to Nokia you should be able to listen to your music for a full 24 hours on one single charge.

Nokia 5220 XpressMusic - Camera

Unfortunately the Nokia 5220 only comes with a 2 megapixel camera, but as the phone is going to be aimed at the cheaper end of the market and is a dedicated music phone we can’t really grumble too much. There is a dedicated music key and a digital zoom feature (4 x zoom.) The camera supports video recording with can be playback on the 2 inch colour screen.

The Nokia 5220 comes complete with an Organic wallpaper which changes throughout the day. 64 polyphonic ringtones are provided with the handset which also supports MP3, MIDI, True tones, ACC and video ringtones. Over the air downloading is possible for retrieving more ringtones.

The phone works on a GSM network which covers GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900. The 5220 will automatically switch between the networks to find the best signal. The phones comes complete with a USB cable allowing the 5220 to be connected to other compatible devices, i.e. computers and printers are the most common devices you will probably want to connect too.

The Nokia 5220 allows users to connect to the internet via its Opera Mini web browser and view their favourite websites. If you a fan of YouTube then you will over the moon with Macromedia adobe Flash support which is great for video’s.
