Review: Nokia 5610 XpressMusic

Nokia 5610 XpressMusic
Nokia 5610 XpressMusic

The Nokia 5610 is an improvement to the Nokia 5300 XpressMusic phone. It is available in blue or red and is slide design. The 5610 is slimmer than the 5300 and is a much more powerful piece of equipment.

Nokia appear to have fixed the difficulty they were having with the screens breaking. They have done by adding aluminium side panels and scratch resistant, ok, it does show up fingerprints but is a tough little phone. It is a pleasant size phone even though it’s not super-thin. The screen is a large 2.2 inches, has 16.7 million colours and high resolutions of 240x320 pixels. The 5610 is easy to control, as the screen sits above the slider key that is used to change the control mode between the music player, radio and the phone. Beneath the slider key is a navigation pad which is a great size and is just as easy to use. Once the 5610 is slid open a great practical keypad is revealed.

Now to the music features of the phone, after all this an XpressMusic phone. The 5610 plays all the main music formats and includes a built in FM radio, it’s sound is of high quality which can be heard from the built in speakers or if you so wish, from the stereo headset that is provided with the phone. Support for a Bluetooth stereo headset is available. The phone can take a MicroSD memory card with up to 4 Gbytes.

The camera on the 5610 has 3.2 mega-pixels, auto-focus, macro mode, digital zoom and a dual LED flash. There is a second as well for making your video calls. The 5610 is also a 3G phone which is worth mentioning. Ok, it’s not as good as the Nokia N95 but it does surpass the walkman range.

Everything that is expected from a 3G phone the Nokia 5610 does. It’s capability of what it can do is fantastic. Recording and sending audio messages, choosing any of your music and having it set as your ring-tone, emailing, surfing the web at 3G speed, playing games and a connection via Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 is all possible. The battery life is good and the dedicated audio chip for sound is the latest from Nokia.
