Review: Nokia 6288

Nokia 6288
Nokia 6288

The Nokia 6288 is a modernized edition of the 6280 3G slide phone. It is available in black or white with a gloss finish and is an attractive slide-phone.

You would think that the 6288 is a duplicate of the 6280 but the one difference there is is the 6288 has a large 512 Mbytes card.

The 6288 has pretty much all the features of a Smart-phone which puts it at the higher end of the scale but id does use a faster Series 40 operation system instead of a Symbian. The camera feature is of 2 Mega-pixels with a flash and digital zoom. Also there is a second VGA camera for video recording. With a TFT display making it one of the best screens available, with 262,144 colours and 320 x 240 pixels.

The 6288 is equipped with a music player including; MP3, MP4, AAC and eAAC+ and a built in FM radio. Plenty of songs can stored as the memory card is 512 Mbytes ( as previously mentioned ) but this can be increased if you so wish.

The 6288 has an array of features such as a voice recorder, voice dialling Nokia Xpress audio messaging and an integrated hands-free speaker. There are some Java games also available on the phone but downloading more is possible.

The supports EDGE for faster downloading in 2G mode and the 3G connection is very fast. Bluetooth, USB and Infrared are all supported and the connection is superb.

Nokia have clearly worked hard to improve on the 6280 with the 6288. It is most certainly a more reliable phone but is still not on top form. There have been reports from users about the slide device and the display screen breaking. The battery life also isn’t very good on this phone. We don’t really rate Nokia’s current slide design phone’s but if you are looking for a 3G slide phone we do highly recommend the Sony Ericsson W850i.
