Nokia’s “Simply Beautiful – Beautifully Simple “ 6300 design has a smooth, slick look with a stainless steel outer coating. This isn’t a smart-phone but a good all rounder and its simplicity does reflect that fact. Ok, it’s not a 3G phone but does have all the functions in a phone that most people would want. Can Nokia at last be getting back to what they used to do best! A mobile phone that does exactly what you want it to do and do it with great capability.
The 6300 resembles the early 6 series of the Nokia phone. It has just been updated for 2007 with high class colour display and a 5 way navigation key but still it maintains it’s exclusive pricey look, a nicely sized screen and practical design. The 6300 is a perfectly sized phone at just 11.7mm thin makes this a really nice slim phone, not being too wide or too heavy the phone feels firm and substantial. The display screen is outstanding, with an incredible 16 million colours and high resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The camera feature is 2 mega-pixels with an 8 x digital zoom. There is also a video recording facility it’s not great but is good enough for the there and then photography. This phone does feature a music player with a built in FM radio. There is a Nokia headset provided with the 6300 and support for a Bluetooth stereo headset. The built in memory is a tad minimal at 7.8 Mbytes this can be increased to a maximum of 2 Gbytes with the purchase of a MicroSD card. Connectivity to both Bluetooth and USB is supported also featuring GPRS and EDGE which allows for speedier data downloads. Nokia users will be familiar with the user interface, if used to the standard 40 series interface, but the 6300 has improved some what. The battery life is lower than the norm which is to be expected from super-slim phones. In a nutshell, the Nokia 6300 on the outside is a hit, on the inside it has all the typical features a regular user would expect. This phone has been well thought out with attention to it’s detailing, essentially it is a simple and easy to use mobile phone.
It’s great that Nokia have gone back to what they do best, it has been well worth the wait. The metallic finish really completes the look, but be careful, if not treated with the respect it deserves, it will show up any scratches. This phone really is attractive and leaks of quality as soon as you pick it up. Well done Nokia, this phone really has been worth the wait.
