Nokia 6600 Fold – 3G Clamshell phone

The Nokia 6600 Fold is a sensuous 3G mobile phone which elegantly unfolds with the touch of a button to reveal its 2.13 inch QVGA OLED display with 16M colours. The button for opening the mobile phone is conveniently placed to allow for one handed activation. The outer casing comes in either purple or black, both colours are highly glossed. When closed, the clamshell mobile phone is small and compact to fit into the palm of your hand. There is a secondary 1.36 inch OLED display on the outer casing of the phone that can be activated by tapping the outer casing of the mobile phone twice. This screen displays information such as missed called, incoming calls, message waiting etc. There are further tap commands for disabling the alarm, silencing and rejecting calls. A subtle external light flashes alerting the user to a call they may have missed, low battery or anything else that may need your attention. The Nokia 6600 Fold has large well spaced keys which make sending text messages a pleasure.

Nokia 6600 Fold - Music player and Camera

The Nokia 6600 fold features a stereo music player supporting all the standard formats such as MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ and WMA audio. A stereo headset is supplied in the package. This headset has keys on it allowing you to control the FM radio and music player functions without getting your mobile phone out of your pocket. Video playback and steaming is also supported by the media player. There is 15 megabytes of internal memory which is not really going to store many of your songs, so Nokia are supplying a 512 MB MicroSD™ card which the package to boost the memory. The MicroSD slot on the Nokia 6600 fold can take memory cards up to 4GB.

The Nokia 6600 fold features a 2 megapixel camera, which is fairly poor by today’s standards but in Nokia’s defense, this phone is to be targeted at the cheaper end of the market. The camera will have 8x zoom and a double LED flash. VGA video can be recorded at 15 frames/second and QVGA at 30 frames/second. There is a second VGA camera which can be used for 3G video calling (this is where you can see the person you are calling on your phones screen and in turn they can see you). This function has been around for a while and the manufacturers keep adding it to all phones even though it does not seem to be catching on.

Nokia 6600 Fold - Messaging and email

All the standard messaging service our supported by the Nokia 6600 Fold. Creating, editing, sending and receiving Multimedia messages (MMS), both video and images. Sending and receiving emails is possible as well as our trusted friend, the text message (SMS). The Nokia 6600 Fold allows users to send voice clips over the air using Audio messaging service (AMS).

Nokia 6600 Fold - Internet

The Nokia 6600 Fold features a xHTML browser allowing users to access all their favourite website. This is very useful if you need to find out train times for example if you are on the move and away from your PC. Nokia Mini Maps is provided on this phone just in case you decide to get lost! All this can be viewed on the 2.13 inch screen using the 16 million colours.

The battery provided in the package will power the phone for 4 hours of talk time or 300 hours on standby. Bluetooth® and USB connection are supported by the Nokia 6600 Fold. This is very useful for connecting to other compatible devices. The majority of devices found in your office(PC, printer, PDA) or PC are USB compatible and as time passes more and more are becoming Bluetooth compatible too. EDGE technology is supported by the Nokia 6600 Fold allowing for high speed data transfer. Useful when downloading or uploading music from your mobile phone.
