The Nokia 6600 Slide is a compact and elegant mobile phone with a high quality slider that can be opened using one hand. The 6600 Slide is a slim 14mm thick and only weighs 110 grams. The outer casing is constructed from steel covers and the control keys are made from aluminum. For such a compact phone the Nokia 6600 Slide has a respectable 2.2 inch QVGA screen using 16.7 million colours to ensure a bright display. The 6600 Slide features the new tap technology from Nokia which allows the user to mute/reject calls or silence the alarm simply by tapping the outer case of the phone, I can see me being late for work a lot if I get this phone!
Nokia 6600 Slide - Music player and Camera
The Nokia 6600 Slide has similar features to the 6600 Fold featuring a multi standard music player with built-in FM radio. The music player support MP3, MP4, AAC & eAAC+ and MicroSoft-Windows Media Audio (WMA). There is only 20MB of internal memory so to store all your favourite songs but Nokia have included a 512MB MicroSD™ memory card in the package, this can be upgraded to 4GB which should not cost you more than £30.
The Nokia 6600 Slide boasts a 3.2 megapixel camera which is better than the 2.0 megapixels offered by the Nokia 6600 Fold. The camera has 8x zoom and a double LED flash to brighten up those photos taken in dimly lite environments. VGA video recording is at 15 fps and QVGA at 30 fps giving a good quality recording. With the 2.2 inch TFT QVGA screen using 16.7 million colours admiring your filming work is a pleasure. There is no secondary camera like the 6600, as this is not a flip phone it is not really needed.

All the standard messaging service our supported by the Nokia 6600 Slide. Creating, sending, editing and receiving Multimedia messages, both images and video. The Nokia 6600 Slide features an e-mail client which allows the user to send emails with attachments. Instant messaging is support for AOL, Yahoo and MSN. The user can also record there own voice message and forward it to other mobile phones which support the Nokia Xpress Audio messaging.
Nokia 6600 Slide – Internet
The Nokia 6600 slide has a xHTML browser (Opera Mini 4 browser) which allows users to access the World Wide Web. Accessing the internet is becoming more and more popular as users are on the move more and like to keep in touch with the latest news. The Opera Mini 4 browser supports Java™ MIDP 2.0, this is a Java platform created for resource constrained devices such as mobile phones. It assists the browser with audio and gaming and securing the network with is useful if you use your mobile phone for online banking. Macromedia Flash Lite 3.0, a stripped down version of flash is also supported on this mobile phone, think youtube!
The battery provided with the Nokia 6600 Slide will power the mobile phone for 3-4 hours of talk time and up to 240 hours on standby mode. Support is offers for both Bluetooth® and MicroUSB connectivity which is useful when connecting to your PC or printer to download pictures or uploading music or even charging your phone. The Nokia 6600 Slide contains many application such as Nokia Maps, Yahoo! Go, Calculator, Converter, and World Clock to mention a few.

AverageI do like the phone though I'm having an issue with the supplied headphones. The sound on the supplied set lost it's volume - down to a just a whisper - within a few weeks of use. Checked all the settings and no issue there. Went into the T-M shop on the high street and they kindly swapped for another set. Tested before I left the shop and the volume was great on the replacement. That was a week ago, but noticed over the last few days the volume is going down again to a whisper. Are they just poor quality or have I just been unlucky? If the former is their a good alternative?

AverageWhat can I say? Its a lovely looking phone &easy to use, i was really looking forward to this phone however... It does have its problems and they are not insignificant... the keyboard is small &easy to miss the key you wanted, especially when going for a full stop. The sound is poor. Most people put the phone down on a surface when at home or work - I have missed calls &texts due to the speaker being at the back and blocking the sound. The camera is good but the flash is too much, overexposing the photo. Reception is poor, my children &I were at the beach today &they all had signals on much older nokias where as I on a new &rather expensive phone, had none -honestly! This is a sideways step for nokia my last phone the 6300 offers more useful functions such as - it flashes if you have missed calls or texts, the sound &reception are better and the keys larger. It would be nice to choose the functions one wants, I want style but i don't need email-at all. Its a phone to me I have sat nav &I have a computer they are useful functions but not if it means loss of signal &quality. Disappointing Nokia - please try harder!!!

AveragePleased with handset as a whole but disappointed that the loaded Opera Mini browser is unavailable with o2 on a prepay basis - only monthly tariff.
