The Nokia E65 is really intended for the business user. It looks similar to the Samsung D500 and is the best looking of the E series range. It is also a 3G Smart-phone and comes in a choice of colours. Being a Symbian phone it offers a lot of choice for users to install their own applications and to customize the phone. Fast access to data via EDGE or 3G networks is supported, plus support for emailing and attachments. One down-side of the phone is Symbian can occasionally be slow and may cause the phone to freeze or even crash.
There are a number of great features and functions on the E65 but some may not be quite so great. Why do Nokia keep designing phone’s with small keypads? The keypad would better if slightly larger. The size of the phone is great and it isn’t too heavy. The slide design works really well as the phone is compact and practical allowing a large screen which is one of its great features. It has the latest colour technology of 16 million colours and high resolutions. A lot of information can be viewed at any one time as the fonts are small but not so good for those with not so good eye-sight.
Voice over IP calls using the integrated wireless LAN connection is great and is the one of the E65’s greatest features. When it comes to connectivity it is almost impossible to beat. You should be able to connect to virtually anything as the phones supports Bluetooth, USB and infrared. The built in memory is 50 Mbytes but there a slot to add a MicroSD card.
The E65 does have feature a camera and music player but are not the main base of the phone, but just great extra features. There isn’t a second camera for video calling.
The battery life of the E65 below average but power can be reserved by switching the Bluetooth and WLAN off at anytime if not needed.
To summarise the E65 has great performance of a 3G phone. We do highly recommend it for the power users, but you would be better off with a phone that is very similar like the Nokia 6330 if you have no need for the high-spec features.
