Nokia N78 review

Nokia N78 review

The Nokia N78 is a 3G Smartphone that has flair and is also very fashionable. With its rounded edges and smooth and sleek finished casing this phone actually resembles a candy bar. The casing comes available in 3 colours allowing the user to change the colour section on the back of the handset. The colours include a refined black a chocolate brown and also a white colour. This very attractive 3G Smartphone has a smart keypad that has the keys set in bar type shape. This then offers a small and compact layout of the keypad. The screen is a QVGA type and is 2.4 inches providing really clear viewing. The screen resolutions are 240 x 320 pixels and displays 16 million colours for the viewer to really enjoy. The size of the N78 is 15.1mm deep, 49mm wide and 113mm in height. This makes the phone easy to hold and carry in the hand. Other Nokia handsets from the N series range that the N78 is from also include the Nokia N70, N73, Nokia N76 and the Nokia N77.

Technology is at the heart of the N78 which makes it a fantastic 3G Smartphone. It comes equipped with 3G HSDPA technology allowing the user to take pleasure in the fast connectivity, downloads and transfers. It’s the built in 3G technology that allows the user to benefit from 3G video calling by using the second camera which is located on the front of the handset. Wireless communicating can be really enjoyed by using the WI-FI technology that is complete with the UPnP support. The Bluetooth® tool supports a A2DP connection allowing access to a wireless connection between all compatible Bluetooth® devices. Now, the EDGE technology allows a super fast transfer rate making it almost three times faster than GPRS transfers. The phone is Quad-band which covers four GSM networks and WCDMA. The N78 does have a Symbian operation system that has S60 third edition software that is installed. A built in GPS system that is known as A-GPS supports Nokia maps providing the user with directions for their journey. Viewing office documents is supported as the 3G element allows this capability. The built in memory of the N78 is 70 Mbytes but this can increased by the use of a MicroSD™ memory card.

The built in camera feature is great and is of 3.2 mega-pixels and has all the features and settings options and functions a user could wish for. To ensure the user can obtain really clear and focused images the phone comes with Carl Zeiss optics and a Tessar lens. The camera also features a 20 x digital zoom and an LED type flash function with auto focus and auto exposure. The photo settings can be changed to what suits the user for example, a close up setting, night and night portrait options and landscape. To obtain the best quality photo finish the picture colour and tone white balance will automatically adjust. The storing of photos is simple and the user can share their images with friends and family by sending them via the messaging services. The N78 also features a video recording feature by switching the 3.2 mega-pixel to video mode. This allows the user to take excellent video footage as the camera has an 8 x digital enabling to get up close to their chosen subject. There is also a built in video stabilizer preventing the user recording jumpy and shaky video footage. Once finished filming any footage the user can then play back their footage by using the RealPlayer video playback facility which supports MPEG4, H263, H264, Flash 3 video formats and Real-Video.

The N78 supports SMS text messages and MMS multi-media messaging allowing communication of sending and receiving pictures, images and video clips with sound to other compatible phones that have these messaging features. The phone is also equipped with an emailing service supporting email attachments so the user will never feel far away from work and colleagues with this mobile email service. A built in Nokia browser that includes a mini map does come with RSS feeds capability therefore allowing the user to gain access to the World Wide Web whilst on the move. The built in music player supports most popular music formats and allows the user to create play-lists and coloured album art displays so the user can listen their music they way they want to. The N78 also features a built in FM stereo radio allowing the user to tune in and listen to their favorite radio stations and DJ’s again whilst on the move. The N78 comes kitted with stereo sound speakers allowing the user to listen to their music playing out aloud on the other hand the phone does come supplied with a Nokia stereo headset if the user wishes to listen to their music with a little more privacy.
