Not recommended.
Build quality is poor, slider is loose, plastic feels cheap and crappy, call / hangup buttons squeak when pressed.
Firmware is pretty poor and, although there's been some major firmware updates, it won't update.. Been told to change my product code to update firmware, but with other issues, don't wanna lose my warranty.
Very expensive for such a cheap crappy phone.
Camera on a par with my 2mp SE w810i camera.

This is the worst phone ever I had owned. It keeps restarting when on main or USB charge. Poor voice quality on Vodafone network. Call drops on middle of call. Poor camera quality compared to n73.
I sent mine for repair. I would stay away from this phone.

Tempted to give more.
Screen great contrast, slightly smaller than things like N96. Being OLED does seem to translate into good bettery life.
Games good fun.
Camera zoom a bit slow but quality plenty good enough.
FM transmitter great feature to listen to your own tunes.
Currently in household we have 9 mobiles and this one is greatly admired for capabilities and easy to use.
A good touchscreen interface of this would make this device unbeatable.
Can't understand why this isn't marketed more than N96 but then that makes this one a bit more exclusive.

I got my N85 3 weeks ago, so far im impressed with its battery life and OLED screen...
I like the way you can organize your Mp3 files...(like changing genres, names of songs,
Playlist organizing...etc)
What i dont like about this fone is that Nokia has changed the charging tip from 2mm tip to micro usb tip...its a shame they have to change the charging tip. Now i have to buy spare chargers coz i cant borrow chargers from someone elses nokia.....if they keep on doing that then i might try other phones like the apple iphone. Another thing is that the face is abit on the soft side coz i remember playing a demo game, i pressed the key pad too hard and cracked the lower tip of the plasticy face. NOKIA- why do you have to change the charging tip?! It would have been perfect if it had the usuall 2mm charging tip!

A great phone!!!! So much better then any samsung or Sony Ericsson i have had and believe me i have had them all the Omnia, Tocco, C905, G500, Soul, u name it i have had it, if they are not up to par and i am very fussy with phones they go straight back. Battery life is absolutely outstanding, very simple to use and i am only just beginning to explore some of the features. Very impressive!! A definite recommended buy

i wanted to buy a N96 but after comparing the N85 with it, the N85 is definitely the better choice. im still waiting for it to be released over here. Despite the lack of 3D HW Graphics Accelarator, i am not too concerned as no N-Gage games employ that for now. it is much better on my budget compared to a N96 anyway :)
