- Superb 8MP camera
Photography has been brought to the forefront with fabulous Nokia N86 slider mobile phone, with an 8 mega-pixel camera feature, a wide-angle Carl Zeiss lens, a dual LED flash and a fast shutter for reduced motion blur. The N86 really does pack a punch and take superb quality digital photo's that it can only be compared to that of a stand alone digital camera. Whilst we are excited about the N86 8Mp camera abilities lets not forget that Samsung have beaten Nokia with regards to an 8 mega-pixel camera mobile phone a while ago now. Recording digital video images is just as simple and are of the highest quality in all light conditions at fantastic 30 frames per second. Operating this marvellous camera function is simple to get grips with for any novice. If photography really isn't your forte then the Nokia N86 is not for you.
What we know for sure is that Nokia N86 mobile phone is a slide design handset with dimensions of 103.4mm x 51.4mm x 16.5mm with a hefty weight of 149g but when you consider how much technology has been packed into the N86 it is a fair weight. The Nokia N86 comes in a choice of two colour options which include Black and White and comprises a large and very bright 2.6 inch OLED scratch resistant display screen displaying up to 16 million colours with screen resolutions of 240 x 320 pixels, and with 8 gigabytes of on-board memory providing a vast amount storage space but this can be increased massively with a 16GB MicroSD memory card. All the detailing of the metal frame of the N86 makes this handset a very attractive mobile phone. Call time available on the N86 is up to 6.3 hours and a stan-by time of up to 312 hours or up to a massive 25 hours of music play back time with a full charge up of the N86 battery.
There are some other fantastic features on the Nokia N86 other than the already mentioned brilliant 8 mega-pixel camera feature. There is a built-in music player system with dedicated music keys which supports MP3-MP4-eAAC+-WMA music file formats plus an FM Radio with RDS technology and an FM transmitter. Music can be enjoyed through the built-in stereo speakers or the Bluetooth stereo headset. Customising the N86 with a ring-tone is so straight forward and the user can choose from the available MP3 or Polyphonic ring-tones or downloaded tunes. The user can really build up a fantastic music collection from the Nokia Music Store where there are million of tunes available.
Connecting to the internet via the Nokia N86 is possible as the handset supports WAP 2.0 XHTML and HTNL web browsing technologies also with the inclusion of the EDGE technology Class 32,296 / 177.6 kbits, 3G – HSDPA 3.6 Mbps and a Symbian OS S60 rel 3.2. connecting to other compatible devices is possible via the Micro USB and Bluetooth with A2DP technologies provided on the Nokia N86. The N86 operates on GSM-850/9001800/1900 & HSDPA-900/1900/2100 supported networks.
For other entertainment purposes the user can enjoy the Java MIDP 2.1 gaming facilities presented on the Nokia N86 mobile phone, especially with the N-Gage motion gaming feature which takes the gaming experience to a whole new level of fun and entertainment.
In terms of applications the user can enjoy built-in GPS, aGPS function, a Voice Memo along with many many more useful tools to provide a more organised lifestyle. There is a kick-stand at the back of the handset to make viewing recorded video clips a more enjoyable pleasure, its a little added feature like this thats adds more desirable effect to the handset.
Keeping in contact with others with the messaging services available on the Nokia N86 is simple and easy, the services supplied include SMS, MMS (multi-media messaging) and of course Emailing.
Keep an eye out for the Nokia N86 as we believe this mobile phone is going to be a big hit!!! Nokia have just released the N900 which we think is worth a look, there are some great N900 Deals available. You should also checkout the Nokia N8 Review.

This phone looks good and has a great camera, I would not recommend it to ANYONE though. It has a mind of its own and has caused me nothing but problems. Stay away from Nokia till they have sorted out their software!!

I had read the reviews on this phone when it first came out and they were all good so I bought one, about three months later the ear speaker fails, only to be repaired so far a total of 4 times, it crashes from time to time, is cuts off calls, it has a mind of it’s own. Now looking at the reviews and it seems that most people are getting the same problems, they obviously are not designed to last, Shame really because it’s a smart phone with excellent features I wish nokia would pay more attention to build quality rather than just trying to get the latest software on the market, once I give-up on this phone sooner rather than later I will not be purchasing nokia again, shame!!!

ive just bought the n86 sim free with v11 firmware installed
iam an avid nokia user and have owned many nokia smartphones , 6680 , 3250 , n73 , n95 , n96 , n97 , 6220c , n82 etc etc
i havent owned the n86 for very long but it seems like a solid device that looks classy and feels nice in your hand
its jam packed with features and its a shame that the memory isnt bigger coming from 48gb on my n97 to 24gb is quite a big step down (i use a 16gb card by the way)
love the slide its great and really sturdy unlike many n95s , n96s , n85s
the hardened glass front looks amazing as does the metal trim around the fron of the device
if getting a new phone i would seriously think about the n86
it beaats the n97 in my eyes and iam now selling my n97 as it is so unrealible , the camera scratches itself and the gps is poor
the n86 has a much better camera cover and the gps is alot stronger to big issues for me with the n97 which the n86 dosent suffer from
the headphones bundled with the n86 are also top quality and in ear buds instead of them cheap horrible ones and actually sound allright , ok they aint as good as the cx 300s or some of the sony ear buds but they are much better then the ones you get with allmost evryother nokia handset
battry life seems pretty good too this is a 1200mah battery but the n86 has power saving oled screen so the main power drain of the phone is kept to a minimum you cane asily get a days heavy usage out of it
the phone doesnt creak or wobble when touch as said before it has a touch of class about it and feel solid which is important for an exspensive mobile
garmin and nokia maps work great
usb charging works well and is handy
kick stand is much better then the n96 version but still a bit iffy does the job though
screen quality is amazing the oled screen produces the blackest blacks ive seen on a mobile the colours really stand out over lcd screens and make the battery last longer too due to lower power consumption
wifi and bluetooth worked well where ever ive been with it
the phone os feels snappy and even on v11 its fast and pretty stable which is nice coming from v12 on the n97 which takes an age on some things , the n86 is much quicker and responds quickly
n86 handled my 16gb card well and didnt cause slow down
very nice device which has been built well check it out its worth a look

I had my nokia n86 as an upgrade yesterday, (it's gone back today!!!!)when i first took the phone out of the box i thought it was lovely, boy was i wrong! - i done eveything the user guide said for first time start up - i wanted to change some of the settings so read the book on how to do this and followed the instructions - i set the keypad lock to lock the keypad after a few mins - it locked the keypad that good i could'nt use the phone!! i pressed every button to unlock it and nothing worked, i read the guide followed instructions that did'nt work, in the end i phoned nokia explained everything and was told there are a lot of problems with this handset and their recalling them!!!!! so i decided to go for the n85 have been trying to get hold of one on orange but been told that they no longer do this phone, why? if their having so many problems with the n86!!!!!!

I love it
have had mine just over a month.
Every track from my laptop on there, excellent pictures and no issues at all.
Yes its hung on me a couple of times, but simply reset it. In any phone i have owned i have had to reset it at some point.
Its not a great deal to ask considering everything the handset can do !

This fone looks great and i guess it probably would have been a great phone however, after doing the first charge i tried to txt someone but the phone didn't automatically input my call centre details so i had to physically type them in myself from my old hand set, then the bottom right hand button that was supposed to put the phone on silent refused to do so it would only show the # sign on the screen and do nothing else. The light sensor didn't work so at 2am and the dark i was unable to see the keypad to use the phone.Decided not to go any further with this phone and took it back to the shop to exchange it. got another N86 that had exactly the same problems, took this hand set back and got the shop to try all the N86 hand sets they had in stock all of which did not work correctly, this was the case in a further two different shops. I understand that today after looking desperatly for a working N86 that Nokia have in fact recalled these hand sets today!

I liked this phone when I first got it, and in a funny way still do. It was a bit weighty, but felt solid and dependable. However, in less than an hour of getting it out of the box it froze on me. A simple address book edit was apparently too much for this all bells and whistles comms hub. Ok, I thought, maybe that was just a one-off, I obviously must have typed the 1 in 1 billion keypad combo that locks a phone up. So I proceeded to take the back off, take out the battery, replace the battery and start up again.
Everything seemed to be fine for the rest of the day; that was until I got home and decided to try out the GPRS maps app. Started typing in a location and low and behold, the phone froze on me again!! To cut a long story short, the N86 proceeded to lock up a further three times over the course of the next day, always when using the keypad. Now call me old fashioned, but the keypad's a pretty crucial, and dare I say, basic part of the workings of a phone.
I've read many a review by those who have hung on to dodgy phones for ages, getting replacement after replacement, but I refuse to become one of them. So on deciding to invoke the 14 days cooling off period, I attempted to contact the Nokia(don't)Care line, as was suggested, to arrange the return of my rather expensive, but totally useless mobile. That was 2 days ago, and I'm still trying. I have been kept on hold for hours and by this rate the 14 days will have come and gone.
Not impressed Nokia. A faulty phone is one thing, poor customer care is suicide.

should be one of the handy devices nokia is making, i use N85, which was exactly wat i need, this will be a +1 for me 8 mp cam and faster and full hardened glass front makes it look more elegant and shiny.
