Nokia N97 Review – Internet in your pocket
The Nokia N97 is the latest mobile phone in the N-series range after the previous and hugely popular Nokia N96. The Nokia n97 is 16 mm thick and weighs a heavy 150 grams, but if you read on and see what’s in this phone, you will see why! The Nokia N97 is a pure internet based mobile phone and could be considered as a PC in your pocket. The Nokia N97 features a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a touch display that tilts when slid out. The N97 looks very similar to the HTC G1. To ensure you get the best possible internet experience the Nokia N97 has a massive 3.5 inch screen. There is an ‘always open’ screen which allows the user to stay permanently connected to there favourite social networking website like facebook® or any other website which you use a lot.
‘Social location’ is a new concept introduced by nokia and will debut on the N97. Using an intergrated compass and A-GPS the nokia n97 can understand where it is and can update social networking websites automatically with real time data. This information can be restricted via the social networking site so only your approved friends can get your location.
The screen on the Nokia N97 is truly mind blowing at a massive 3.5 inch touch screen, as far as we are aware this is the biggest screen to be developed on a mobile phone. Having such a huge screen will make using the internet on your mobile phone a pleasure instead of a pain! The N97 will also allow you to stream flash videos, play games, update blogs, chat and email. The screen is a 16:9 widescreen LCD making scrolling websites from side to side a thing of the past. For typing emails or blog make use of the full QWERTY keyboard.
Storing your media and files on the nokia N97 won’t be a problems the handset has 32GB of memory build in and supports up to a 16GB MicroSD™ card, that’s 46 GB’s in total.
Nokia N97 camera
The camera on the Nokia N97 is very similar to the N96 at 5 Megapixels with Carl Zeiss optics. The camera can take pictures up to a resolution of 2595 x 1944 pixels and zoom in by 20x using the included digital zoom. I am glad to see nokia have improve the flash on the N97 to duel LED, although I think it’s about time they looked at incorporating a xenon flash. The N97 camera features autofocus to insure your pictures are not blurred, plus the flash should kick in automatically if there is poor light.
The video capture is of DVD quality and the battery will give you 1.5 days of continuous playback (according to nokia). The nokia n97 supports a variety of image formats including JPEG, JPEG2000/JP2 (better compression performance than JPEG), PNG, MBM, SVG and BMP. There is also a second camera with a resolution of 640 x 480 designed for video calling.
As well as the superb camera the Nokia N97 mobile phone allows you to film video to DVD quality and will film 30 frames per second. The resolution of the video footage depends on the format you want to record in, check the n97 specification below for further details. Software is included on the n97 handset to allow you to edit the footage to produce a more professional finish. This type of functionally will be very useful for novices but im sure the pro’s out there would still prefer to use dedicated editing software on their PC. Printing pictures from the Nokia N97 couldn’t be easier as Pictbridge™ is supported. PicBridge™ allow you to print directly to a compatible printer without the need of going via your PC. If the printer supports Bluetooth® then you can transfer the photos to your printer wirelessly, els you will have to use the included USB cable. The is a print application pre installed on the N97 to help you with printing if needed.
Nokia N97 connectivity
Nokia have gone to town to make sure you can connect the N97 in a variety of ways. As well as the usual Bluetooth®, WiFi and EDGE, nokia have included a miniUSB port, this can be used to connect your Nokia N97 smart phone to your PC and for recharging. The Bluetooth® 2.0 features A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) allows the user to listen to full stereo music via a wireless headset while EDGE aids very fast data transfer and fast downloads, up to 296 kilobytes per second. Connect to your printer, PDA, laptop and in fact any gadget that is Bluetooth® compatible from the N97.

I have read review after review about the Nokia N97 and i am so excited about it's release, i have had an N95 &at the moment i have the N96 so i am a huge fan of the Nokia N series range.
I can't wait to try out the large 3.5 inch tilting touch screen with the QWERTY key pad, the QWERTY keypad is something mine is lacking as i love emailing and the net.
Even though Nokia haven't added more megapixels to the camera the duel LED flash and 20x digital zoom will make taking photo's a joy.
The video recorder sounds very impressive and Nokia have kindly added a built in wireless print option so no need for me to use a USB connector.
One thing that does intreague me about teh N97 is the social location feature that can be used with networking sites.
I am not normally one to write my comments on these mobile phone sites but the reviews on the N97 have got me in a tizz. Nokia have cretaed the best thing in modern day technology.
I can't wait to get my Nokia N97 in 2009.

Good mobile phoneI am really looking forward to testing out the Nokia N97 in 2009, I feel its about time the Nokia N series range had a phone with a QWERTY keypad, they are great and the large display screen will give it an extra edge over all other phones.
I amm sure Nokia will not dissapoint with the N97 and have improved on the N96.

I WANT ONE!! What is going to be the best thing that will happen in 2009???? The answer is the Nokia N97 is being released.
This phone sounds fantastic, i am a bit dissapoined Nokia didn't up the camera to 8 megapixels rather than the 5 they have used on the N95 &N96 although thay have put an LED flash on the N97.
The intergrated Compass sounds like a great feature and the 32 gig of memeory will be fantastic for storing music, pics &vids.
I would love to know if anyone has had a play around on one, if yes please get a review on here.

I WANT ONE!! The nokia N97 looks absolutely brilliant. I was really impressed with the nokia n96 so the N97 must be better. The one features I thought the N96 was missing was the QWERTY keyboard, so im glad to see nokia have included this in the N97. Won't 4G be available by the time this phone is released, maybe nokia should of thought about including this in the N97.
With 32 GB of memory in the n97 I will never run out of space for all my music and videos. Interested to see how bright the video light is going to be, will it be any good when out clubbing. If so, the n97 has gone from having a camera in your pocket to a camcorder in your pocket!
The compass in the Nokia N97 also seems quite interesting, gonna be great for keeping track of photos and videos. Can't wait for the nokia N97 to be released, rock on nokia:-)
