Samsung G600 review

Samsung have now thrown into the mix a phone with technology that is certain to become a classic. The Samsung G600 now has 5 Mega-pixel camera power with an incredible spec and slim-line slide design making this phone very attractive. Samsung haven’t always made phones this pleasing. Whilst the E900 and U600 did trouble some users with the touch sensitive keypad but the G600 has got it just right. OK it may not have the same amazing status of the LG Chocolate or the Apple iPhone but is still an incredible phone.
The G600 is of respectable size measuring 15mm and 48mm wide its not an ultra-thin phone like the U600 but is a couple of millimeters more slender than some of the other ultra-thin phones that are on the market. It is still very easy to hold but will not leave fingerprints all over its smooth glossy finish unlike other mobiles. The slider design of the Samsung range makes opening and closing this phone effortless. There are no touch sensitive keys on the G600 it has a keypad that responds when pressed. The screen is sizeable measuring 2.2 inches diagonally, with 16 million colours & 240 x 320 pixels and is one of Samsungs best screens to date. Using the camera is simple, to use, you slide open to expose the lens and flash, the camera is very well protected behind the slide. It is impossible to see how Samsung could have enhanced on the design.
The G600 has a 5 mega-pixel camera with auto-focus, LED flash & 4x digital zoom. The closest competitor regarding the camera type is possibly the Sony Ericsson K810i which has a 3.2 mega-pixel. The only other phone to have a 5 Mega-pixel camera is the N95 but with its huge screen there really is no comparison. There are two effective camera modes on the G600, the Macro function lets you take up close photos and the panorama mode will take photos in wide view such as landscapes. There is a built in picture editor and enables direct printing to a Pictbridge compatible printer as this is supported. The G600 also records video footage of high quality at 640 x 480 pixels. Now even though Samsung can outdo Sony in the mega-pixel stakes the K810i can still keep its status (only just) as king of the cameras. The reasons for this are; better optics which, make for a slightly better image quality and the Xenon flash on K810i does exceed the LED for brightness on the G600.
The next crucial element of a phone after the camera is the music player and the G600 doesn’t disappoint. To date its Samsung’s best ever music player. It has every major music format which consist of; MP3, AAC, AAC+, 3-AAC+ &WMA. The G600 has support for a Bluetooth® wireless headset and a dual headset feature which allows friends to listen to your music at the same time. The music player is as easy to use an iPod as you can create play-lists and categorize your music by genre, album or even artist. Also the new music inter-face has a dedicated music library. The internal memory in the G600 is 40Mbytes plus there is a 1Gbyte card complete in the packaging. So memory space isn’t a problem what so ever.
There are an abundance of highlights and features on this remarkable phone including Bluetooth® & USB connectivity, Quad-band, off-line mode and a document viewer. The battery life of the G600 should last a good few days depending on the usage and how much the features are used.
We at Mobilefonereviews.co.uk think the G600 is a fierce competitor for phone of the year 2007 and there would be no gasps of shock if it wasn’t the best seller in the latter part of the year. That is why we love this phone and cannot find any imperfection.

brilliant phone, very hardy. has taken MANY bangs and i have dropped it loads, it remains perfect. easy to use, brilliant for fast texters, best phone i have ever had.
superb camera, although taken in the wrong light can cause not very good photo quality.
only downside is that if you have a memory card, you cant scroll through the pictures. you have to come out of each picture, scroll down the go back in. its hard to explain, but is a real nuisance. brilliant games, excellent sound quality, amazimg memory.
this phone deserves 10 stars, if you dont have one then get 1! you dont no what your missing!

Looks good and as a phone it performs as well as any other. Camera is hyped-up. Yes it's 5Mpx, but the poor lens reduces it to the equivalent of a 2 or 3Mpx. As for the "flash"..you may as well just strike a match! The focus is slow, the picture taking is so slow you can't remember if you've pushed the button or not. If "auto-save" is selected to improve speed, it reverts to "push-and-save" every time it's switched off.
The setup/music/camera/phone menu system is appaling, though you can get used to it. To play music via bluetooth from a playlist requires half a dozen key presses, (which seems excessive). It supports micro-SD memory cards, but the extra is not fully integrated into the overall system, e.g. if you want to edit a picture in the memory-card, it has to be transferred to phone memory first, then transferred back later.
Music sound quality is good, and with 2Gb memory stick it provides a fair ammount of play-time. 2G web-work is useless, slow, poor quality and some items don't come up, good for weather and traffic reports only.
This is an "old" camera-phone now, don't buy it, (even on offer), if you want decent photos when your at the pub!
My next 'phone won't be a Samsung as long as they persist with this rediculous led-"flash"

Well, just a quick note about the Samsung G600 mobile phone. I really dig the camera it has taken some quality pics which is cool. I did however have a problem with my handset it was sticking when trying to slide it open, i did get the phone replaced and no problems since. Great, cheers

I no its not a latest phone but i do totally love my Samsung G600 mobile phone. I have always been a Samsung phone user and totally love them. They have always been easy to operate and i have never experienced any problems. One of the big reasons i do love these phones also is they come with great cameras. the G600 has a 5 megapixel camera which has always produced great pictures and also the video footage that i have taken. Im happy for now with my G600 but am waiting to see if Samsung produce that next step with thier technology.
