Samsung mobile and T Mobile have decided to extend their relationship further and joined hands to bring together certain new cell phone models. The first phone available on the line will be Samsung Gravity 2. The device is expected to hit the market in August this year but the exact date is yet not disclosed. The phone just appeared on the web and it is already generating quite a good buzz. Samsung Gravity 2 is going to replace the first version of Samsung Gravity that is already available in the market (since November 2008) for the T Mobile subscribers. Samsung Gravity 2 is thinner than its predecessor and it will include highlights such as include an MP3 player, 2 mega pixel camera, Bluetooth, a microns expansion slot (up to 16GB), myFaves support and 3G support. Other recent Samsung handsets to be released into the mobile phone market include the Samsung Comeback T559 and Samsung Highlight T749.
The Design of Samsung Gravity 2
Users of Samsung Gravity 2 will have options to choose from two different shades. Gravity 2 is supposed to come with metallic pumpkin and berry mauve shades. The type of display screen of Gravity 2 is TFT with 256,000 colours. The screen size is 2.4 inches and it will be featuring resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The device is a side-slider that means the phone will slide up horizontally, not vertically like the other sliding mobile devices. This one is quite like Nokia Surge, which is also a side slider phone. When the phone is slide opened, the full QWERTY keyboard will appear. For a QWERTY keyboard device, the screen size is not big enough. The impact would be much better if the entire front portion would have been a touch screen display. Anyway, the keys of the QWERTY keyboard are expected to be smooth and easy to use. The dimension of Samsung Gravity 2, when the slider is not open is 114.3 x 52 x 15 mm and its weight is 125 grams. At the top of the 2.4 inch display screen, the logo of T Mobile is flashed and right below the screen, there is a logo of Samsung. There are major control keys that are positioned perfectly so that the phone can be easily handled.
Samsung Gravity 2 - Memory
Samsung Gravity 2 will include 40 MB built in memory in the device. The memory of the phone can be expanded by using microSD™ slot of external memory. The phone is capable to using 16 GB memory card. Expandable option up to 16 GB is good considering the features that Samsung Gravity 2 will be featuring. The memory of the phone is capable of storing of thousand entries in the phonebook. The phonebook also comes with photocall feature. Call record feature of Gravity 2 can keep track of last 30 missed calls, last 30 received calls and last 30 dialed calls.
Samsung Gravity 2 - Battery
Samsung Gravity 2 is powered by good battery backup. The devices uses standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery that is capable of giving good service. Several other models of Samsung cell phones and other mobile brands use this battery. With Gravity 2, the talk time in the stand by mode will be around three hundred hours and the same at normal usage will be around five and half hours.
Samsung Gravity 2 - Music
Samsung Gravity 2 is loaded with built in music player to entice the young generation of the mobile users. The music player is quite easy to handle and the music files are also easy to manage. There is an equalizer feature definitely to provide perfect control over managing the sound features. The music player can play diverse music files such as MP3, AAC and AAC+. This is not all; the users can enjoy wireless music listening experience with headphones as the devices come with Stereo Bluetooth. With upgradeable memory option up to 16 GB, the users can load enormous music files in Samsung Gravity 2.
Samsung Gravity 2 - Camera
The Samsung Gravity 2 will be loaded with a 2 mega pixel camera on the back portion of the phone. The camera feature could have been better for more serious usage but anyhow, it is good for the MMS enthusiasts. There is a media player in the phone that can support different types of images, video and audio files. The camera can take good video shots and the built in media player can play video files of MPEG4, 3GPP, H.263 and H.264 format. With 16 GB microSD™ slot, the multimedia fans can rejoice with some handful of choices. The integrated 2 mega pixel camera of Samsung Gravity 2 comes with digital zoom. The 3G network of T Mobile lets the users to take shots and send images easily family and friends or upload the snaps to their preferred social networking websites.
The Web Browsing Experience of Samsung Gravity 2
Samsung Gravity 2 will be coming with a Web browser that will be able to provide complete browsing experience, according to Samsung. It is expected that the quality of web browsing on Samsung Gravity 2 will be at par with the Web browser on the Samsung Highlight phone, which is also available on T Mobile network. The 3G capable device will be also supportive to GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA with speed of 1.8 Megabytes per second and HSDPA with 3.6 Megabytes per second.
Considering the given features and specifications, it is quite obvious that the Samsung Gravity 2 is one of the most anticipated device in the recent times. The mobile phone is expected to arrive in August this year. The pricing factor is still not disclosed.
