Samsung M3310 review

Samsung M3310 review

Samsung made an announcement of launching a new music phone in the month of October and the model number of the phone is M3310. The Samsung M3310 is expected to be made available in the market by the end of November 2009. The highlight of the phone is the combination of high end music features with dual sliding facility. Dual slider form means the mobile phone has two panels, which are the front panel and the back panel. If you move the panel by sliding upwards, you can find the typical numeric keyboard and if you slide the panel down, it opens up the speakers. Structure wise it is quite similar to that of samsung-i450. This is a music centric handset that comes with dedicated music speakers and key buttons. Apart from these controls, the handset includes other features like 3.2 mega pixel camera, Micro SD card slot, QVGA TFT display, FM radio, etc.

The Samsung M3310 Review – network and connectivity

If you are looking for high speed internet access and data transferring facility in the Samsung M3310, then you are surely going to be disappointed. The handset is not enabled with 3G and Wi Fi like Samsung B5722, but it definitely it holds excellent GPRS connectivity with the speed of 32 – 48 kbps and EDGE with 236.8 kbps speed. HSCSD is also available in the mobile phone. Data transferring is the key feature of mobile phones these days. People are indulged into sending and receiving various types of files such as images, music, videos, games and many other forms of application. Samsung M3310 includes v2.0 USB port for transferring data with wire connectivity and for wireless transferring of data, Bluetooth® v2.1 with A2DP is featured in the handset. As far as the network of the phone is concerned, it is a known fact there 3G is absent in Samsung M3310. The handset is supported by quad band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900.

Samsung M3310 – the display

Samsung M3310 is available with two colours – black and white. The frontal look of the phone is quite unique and attractive as well. Almost half of the frontal part is covered with the 2.1 inches screen. Just below the screen, you will find the general control keys - call key and end key. At the center, the main control key is placed and just under it, all the music keys are included. The back portion of the phone shows the logo of Samsung and the camera lens. The type screen of the handset is TFT and it displays 256,000 colours. The resolution of the display is 240 x 320 pixels. Samsung M3310 measures 101 x 48.7 x 15.9 mm and it weighs 95.7 grams.

Samsung M3310 Review – the sound

As the M3310 is a dedicated music phone, the quality of sound needs to be good. That is why the handset has packed Digital Natural Sound Engine (DNSe) to provide that immaculate sound effect. The mobile phone also comes with stereo speakers and a 3.5 mm audio jack. Therefore, you can enjoy music by connecting the phone with the speakers. The sound quality of the ring tones is also good enough, whether is polyphonic or MP3.

Samsung M3310 – the music

Samsung M3310 is a dedicated music phone like the Samsung M7600 Beat DJ and therefore, it may find a good place in the market. The demand of the music phones is quite high as people tend to switch on to the music mode anytime when they are free and when they want to relax. Another benefit of featuring good music features is that the users are not required to use two separate devices, one for calling and another for listening music. Let’s see whether Samsung M3310 can leave up to the expectation of the music lovers or not. The device comes with a built in MP3 player with host of music control features. Apart from the music player, FM radio with RDS is also featured in the handset.

Samsung M3310 Review – memory

Samsung M3310 is a music phone, but it would be of no use if the handset is not backed by sufficient memory. If your mobile phone don’t have a memory backup, then it is not possible to load good number of music files or any other applications. The sound quality is good, but there is a restriction with the number of files; it doesn’t quite make a sense. That is why Samsung M3310 provides the back up with solid memory tool. The built in memory of the handset is 40 mega bytes, which is quite impressive. Moreover, the memory option can be expanded up to 8 gigabytes by using the microSD™ (TransFlash) card slot.

Samsung M3310 – battery

Another basic, but vital aspect of mobile phones is the battery. If the handset is not powered by good quality battery, then it cannot last longer while playing music, videos, games or accessing other applications. If your phone is loaded with such features, then the battery backup is also needed to be good. The Samsung M3310 includes standard Li-Ion 960 mAh battery that is able to provide normal talk time up to 4 hours and 48 minutes and stand by time up to 330 hours.

Samsung M3310 Review – the camera

The camera feature is probably the most important aspect that the mobile users lookout while purchasing a new handset. No matter, if the handset is a dedicated music phone or gaming phone, quality of the camera is always important. People keep the mobile phones with them every time and having a camera in it allows them to capture everything that they want. Let’s see what Samsung M3310 brings in terms of the camera features. The snapper is a 3.2 mega pixel camera that can click images with the resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. Video recording can be done with QVGA @ 15fps. There is no secondary camera.
