Samsung i550 – sweet black candybar
The Samsung i550 is a sleek black candy bar shape designed mobile phone and is the latest addition to the Symbian smart-phone family range and is based on Symbian OS 9.2 series 60. It is a cool looking phone with dimensions of 115mm x 53mm x 13.8mm and weighs 109g making it a nice and light mobile phone that fits comfortably in the palm of the when making and receiving calls. The i550 features a massive 2.6 inch screen displaying up 256K colours with 240 x 320 pixels making for a great bright, clear and colourful screen display. The user can have access of up to 4hrs of talk time and up to 312hrs of stand by time on a full single charge. The Samsung i550 is packed full of great features and applications which we will go on to mention.
Samsung i550 – Music Player & Camera
The built in music player of the Samsung i550 features all the popular music formats which include; MP3, AAC, AAC+, OGG, ASF and WMA formats allowing the user to have a great mobile music experience. There is also a built FM stereo radio so the user can keep in touch with their favourite radio stations and DJ’s while continuously on the go. The user of the Samsung i550 can really personalise their new phone with their ring-tone, the ring-tones supported on the i550 are MP3 and polyphonic tones. The built in internal memory of the Samsung i550 is 150 Mbytes but the phone does have support for a MicroSD™ memory card allowing the user to expand the memory storage space so the user can store more music files and downloads.
The Samsung i550 integrated camera consists of a 3 mega-pixel camera with a flash and auto-focus, just like the Samsung D900 but not as good as the new Samsung Soul with its massive 5 megapixel camera. The i550 has video recording capabilities also so the user can record moving video footage instead of just a quick photo. The user can play back what they have recorded instantly and watch it on the very large 2.6 inch display screen. The is a second VGA camera which allows for 3G video calling, making a phone call even more personal as the user can view their contact face-to-face on their screen with other compatible users with this phone capability making for a fantastic calling experience.
Samsung i550 – Internet & Connectivity
The Samsung i550 works on a HSDPA 3.6mbps web browser allowing access to the Web 2.0 services making for a superb World Wide Web browsing experience allowing the user to keep up to date with all the latest news and travel information as and when they need to. The Samsung i550 comes with a built GPS navigation system with Google maps. The EDGE technology will provide the user with high speed data transfers giving peace of mind. The user can connect their Samsung i550 to other compatible devices by using the USB and Bluetooth technologies allowing for simple and great connections to other devices. The Samsung i550 works on a Tri band network which covers GSM 900/1800/1900 which provides the user with the roaming facility around Europe depending on the user network provider.
Samsung i550 – Messaging & Applications
The Samsung i550 has all the usual messaging services that we have all come to be very familiar with that allows us to stay in touch with people all the time, which include; SMS, MMS (multi-media messaging), emailing and predictive texting. Just with the addition EMS (enhanced messaging). The emailing service will provide the user with being able to stay in contact and up to speed with the workload even whilst away from the office.
The Samsung i550 comes with embedded Java games so the user can keep them amused and occupied if ever boredom arises. The user does have the option to download more games if they desire suiting to their own individual gaming taste.
Now to the applications, these are all tools that can and will help the user in every day living and making life a little less complex. Some of theses include; a Document viewer, an organiser, scheduler, GPS navigation with Google maps, Currency converter, alarm and clock, these are to name just a few services that the Samsung i550 can provide their user with.
