Samsung i7500 review

Samsung i7500 review

It is now official the release of the first Samsung Android mobile phone called the Samsung i7500. The release of this handset will be opening up more options to the consumer as the only other mobile phone with Android technology is the HTC Magic. It will be the 1.5 version of Android that will be running on the Samsung i7500 handset. A massive 3.2 inch OLED touch-screen is featured on the very stylish and sleek looking i7500 with screen resolutions of 320 x 480 pixels with up to 16 million colours making for very vivid , bright and colourful displayed images. An Accelerometer Sensor for auto-rotate and the hand-writing recognition technology are both featured on the Samsung i7500 mobile phone. The i7500 is great sized handset it's easy to manage and to store and no surprise with measurements consisting of 115mm x 56mm x 11.9mm. Overall in terms of looks the Samsung i7500 still maintains the distinctive and unique style that we have come to expect and love with Samsung mobile phones. Unfortunately we do not have any information as yet to how much talk time ans stand-by time is available on the i7500. The expected release date of this gorgeous looking handset is looking likely to be in June 2009.

Samsung i7550 – Camera & Imaging

We believe there is a 5 mega-pixel camera function on the i7500 mobile phone complete with auto-focus, an LED flash and Geo-tagging. This definitely tops the HTC Magic as it only sports a 3.2 mega-pixel feature. Users can enjoy capturing high quality photo's especially at 2592 x 1944 pixel rates. There will be a great selection of imaging features and settings on this very attractive mobile phone as this is always one of Samsung's key features with their handsets. Of course there will be a video recorder function allowing the user to capture high quality video footage, again with a selection of settings and features ensuring the user can make the most of all captured video footage and snap shots. Unfortunately there is no second camera feature which would enable users to participate in video calling with other compatible users. Some may feel this is a low point to the i7500 as many handsets these do have video calling abilities.

Samsung i7500 – Music Entertainment

For those who enjoy listening to their music will enjoy the built-in music player system on the i7500 mobile phone. It supports MP3, eAAC+ and WMA music file formats. It is a little disappointing to see that the i7500 doe not feature a built-in Radio player for users to enjoy. As well as looking very stylish indeed the user can also make their Samsung i7500 sound stylish and unique with a selected ring-tone. The i7500 provides the user with a selection of MP3 and WAV built-in ring-tones. From what we believe the i7500 is reported to have a massive 8 gigabytes of internal memory with the support to increase this much further. This will provide the user with a huge amount storage space for all the user downloads, music files, videos and photo's.

Samsung i7500 Review – Internet & Connectivity

Users can enjoy speedy connections to the internet via the built-in HTML web browsing technology. For a superb quality of internet service and speedy transfer rates the user can rely on the HSCSD, GPRS, EDGE, 3G HSDPA and the WLAN Wi-FI technologies making for a superb mobile internet experience. Supported networks on the Samsung i7500 include 2G GSM – 850/900/1800/1900 and 3G HSDPA – 900/1700/2100 providing the user with the roaming facility allowing full access to their i7500 mobile phone. Connecting to other compatible devices is a simple and straight-forward process via the Bluetooth® 2.0 and Micro USB 2.0 that come available with the handset.

Samsung i7500 – Messaging Services

Messaging services are a vastly popular form of communication these days via our mobile phones, whether it be a quick text or to send and share photo's and videos. Which ever messaging service users choose to use they can be sure to send it quickly and easily. The Samsung i7500 comes equipped with SMS, MMS (multi-media messaging), Instant Messaging and the Emailing service.

Samsung i7500 – Gaming & Applications

Another form of entertainment are the built-in Java™ MIDP 2.0 gaming facilities that can keep users fully entertained and occupied endlessly. No more dull and boring journeys especially on the train.

We have all become very familiar with application tools on mobile phones these days as they can assist us with day to day tasks or out of a spot of bother when the occasion arises. The Samsung i7500 mobile phone comes complete with Google Search, Google Maps, Google Mail, Google Talk along with easy access to YouTube™ and whole selection of tools for the user to enjoy. The GPS technology is also featured on the i7500 giving peace of mind to the user.

Samsung i7500 Review – Summary

Well what can we say about the Samsung i7500 mobile phone other than it is definitely stylish and packed full of all modern day technologies. It is the new Android operating system technology that will really get users to take note of this new handset, as when it comes to Android it is the HTC camp to offer this to us first. Well done Samsung for presenting us with a very up to the minute mobile phone. The i7500 does lack in some areas with its abilities for example there is no FM Radio, but we feel if you are looking for an Android mobile phone you are not looking for a music based handset. What sets the Samsung i7500 apart from the HTC Magic handset is it does pack a punch sporting a 5 mega-pixel camera feature/function. So in areas that the Samsung i7500 may lack in certainly makes up for in other departments.

Rating: PiPi rated the Samsung i7500 mobile phone 2 stars  Okay, but seen better

I wouldn't recommend it.  This may well be uniquely UK issue, but it's actually impossible to connect this phone to a pc as the New PC Studio (Samsung) software will not recognise the phone, thereby making it impossible to put music on it or, indeed, transfer anything between phone and pc. Samsung and O2 are both aware of these issues but, with no software upgrades in the offing, there seems little point in going anywhere near this turkey.
