Review: Sony Ericsson W850i
The Sony Ericsson W850i is a slide design Walkman based phone. The slide design is new to Sony but they have created a phone with a great design, with a nice keypad, a large screen display and that slides very nicely. It comes in a choice of 2 colours, black or white. The white style even has a genuine 24 Carat gold Walkman logo for the extra WOW factor. The keypad has a very trendy and funky feature that also gives the phone a cool look. The lighting pulses to the beat of music on the keypad.
As the W850i is a Walkman phone we’ll get straight down to business. The audio quality is excellent and can be enjoyed through the music player and the FM radio and the Mega Bass enhances the bass frequencies. A good quality stereo headset is included with the phone. A Memory Stick PRO Duo is supplied so there is plenty of memory for storing all your tracks and albums.
Downloading music directly to the phone is simple by using the Walkman software and with it being a 3G connection this will make it much faster downloading. USB mass storage is supported also this allows the transference to drag and drop your music quickly and easily. The USB cable is included in the sales package.
In addition to all of the above, the W850i features a great camera which is 2 mega-pixels with a 4x digital zoom and a built-in flash. There is also video camera to allow to record your own video clips or to make 3G video calls. Ok, the camera may not be to the same spec to that of the SE K800i as it does not have auto-focus. The TFT display is of high quality and is a large 2 inches across and is just as good as its fellow rivals.
We think this is probably on the best Walkman phones on the market thus far, and that’s saying something! It doesn’t quite get the full 5 stars is that the keypad can be a little tricky and it doesn’t feature the auto-focus unlike the SE W810i.
