Among the Viewty series of mobile phones by LG, GT400 Smile is one the latest arrivals. The major highlight of this handset is stated to bring in the combination of exciting touch screen features with affordable price. In fact, the same company has another latest phone with almost similar features, but with slightly different designing. The mobile that we are talking about is LG Viewty GT405, which is also named as LG Viewty GT. It is hard to understand why LG introduced two similar mobile phones in the market around same time. However, let’s get back into the device that we are reviewing in this section.
In our opinion, LG GT400 Viewty Smile is a good deal. It is touted as a budget phone and it has some amazing touch screen features. That’s not all, the Viewty Smile is pleasing many users with its excellent camera feature. We will discuss more details on that afterwards. The 5 mega pixel camera is capable of taking some amazing shots and you can adjust the images to perfection before you decide to share them with your friends. Now, if you wonder how effective the ‘sharing’ platform of the phone is, then you would love to hear that Viewty Smile integrates the best of social network applications like Facebook™ and Twitter™.
LG GT400 Viewty Smile – network and connectivity
Good network support is expected in a mobile phone as it is required to ensure the basic connectivity and communication aspects, which are the real purpose of using a mobile phone. GT400 Smile Viewty by LG is supportive of decent network features. It combines the network utility of both second generation and third generation networks. If you opt for the 2G network, you can get the support of the quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900. In case, you choose 3G network, it will support dual band HSDPA 1900/ 2100. With the inclusion of 3G HSDPA, the internet browsing speed is excellent at 3.6 Mbps. However, if you choose not to opt for 3G, then you have to remain satisfied with the average connection speed of GPRS and EDGE as there is no WLAN in the device. Bluetooth® v2.1 with A2DP and microUSB v2.0 can be used for transferring data to/from other compatible devices.

The mobile phone looks decent in its appearance. GT400 Viewty Smile comes in different shades such as black, white and pink and its designing is made cute and simple. The entire frontal part of the mobile phone is dedicated to the touch screen display, which is of 3.0 inches size. The type of the display is TFT touch screen with 256,000 colours and 240 x 400 pixels resolution. Other highlights of the display screen include accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate and S Class Touch UI. At the bottom of the display screen, you will find the main keys to make calls, end calls and select applications. There are camera button and volume adjustment keys on the side panel of the handset. The USB port and the charging point are also placed there. LG GT400 Viewty Smile is quite handy in terms of the measurement and the size. The device measures 109 x 54 x 15.9 mm and it weighs 95 grams only. Therefore, it can easily slide into your pocket and you can carry it quite conveniently.

Good mobile phonePlus points - price. phone works well, camera is good,
Negative points - LG support is appalling and documentation inadequate. Even the techies in the phone shop could not get the email working although I managed to get there in the end. Likewise trying to find the right drivers to connect to the PC was a major struggle. Lastly, it sometimes freezes saying the email inbox is full when its not - only escape is to take the battery out.
Had it 18 months now and its mostly been reliable and stood the test of time well, so no complaints as it came free on a cheap pay monthly plan.

Okay, but seen betterThought I'd try a LG handset - wish I hadn't. Very disppointed with this. Touchscreen is unresponsive and difficult to use and the phone stops responding frequently.
Very difficult to get it to pick up network signal too - even in known good areas it invariably sits at 'emergency call only' until you reboot or manually scan.
Had a major headache getting the pc to recognise the phone, the bundled software was useless (wrong drivers), and it took three calls to support and them finally sending a drivers disc just to get it to work on Win7 - still no joy with Vista. Pretty poor in this day and age!
On the plus side, the camera is good and the user interface is quite straighforward.
Maybe I am just unlucky but I wouldn't recommend this phone to anyone. I'll be going back to Samsung or HTC in future.

i love this phone..i got it for christmas and it was one o the best presants i have ever gotten..!! its easy to use and i think is a better version of a samsung tocco lite...-much better..!!

Okay, but seen betterThe phone is alright. Though as I text alot, it keeps coming up with a message saying inbox is full when is isn't which causes the phone to freeze so I have to take the battery out for it to do anything. Also, the camera isnt that good as there is no flash, the lighting has to be bright otherwise the picture isnt that good. Overall the phone is really good but I payed £90 for it, which I think was two expensive.

Okay, but seen betterI bought this phone for 70 pounds and compared to most phones on the market it was a decent buy seeing as it's got a 5 megapixel camera and relatively cheap. But as there is no flash this drastically undermines this phones overall rating. The touchscreen could also be better as it requires you to tap it a couple of times before actually displaying the content. Another disappointing aspect of this phone is the slow internet speed.But apart from that a good, affordable, nothing special to tell your mates about phone!

AverageI have owned my LG viewty smile for just over a week and i must say the 5 mega pixel camera is somwhat overhadowed by the fact that it has no flash so it's pretty much usless in low light conditions "very disapointing".
the overall design of the phone itself is very astheticaly pleasing and is very light.
i was traveling all day on the train and i was very happy how fast the internet was and the radio is very good too so that kept me ammused throughout my journey.
very good sound quality,the touchscreen is very nice to use very responsive.
for the price around £80.00 it's a pretty good buy,it's just a real shame that there is no flash particulaly as it's a 5 mega pixel what was lg thinking?????

Good mobile phonei got it in a dirty silver colour today and sofar its really good its my first touchscreen :) the camera is amazing :D 5mp!!! the only problem is its no obvious where to change your message and ringtone you have to go on to music player and select which one you want .
