LG KP500 Cookie

I have the same problem as someone else above, any messages longer than 1 sms page I either do not receive, receive half of, receive a day late, or receive about 6 copies of 3 days late... kind of annoying! It often takes 2 attempts for it to connect a phone call, it chooses to turn itself and unlock itself as it pleases, and often when there are no applications running, it tells me i've reached my maximum limit of applications, even taking the battery out doesnt help!
don't buy this phone! it's brilliant for the first month or two... novelty wears off and you suddenly realise you're not getting any texts and nobody's getting yours either! Vodafone have sent me a new sim card but i know others with this phone and these problems, it's not a sim problem!

What can I say? I find that the LG KP500 is a good phone. I was given one as a present Christmas '08 and I'm still satisfied with it... although, there was a problem to begin with.
During the first few months, whenever I switched the phone off, it would literally 'restart' itself back to like it was when I turned it on for the first time. Took it in for repair, and since then I haven't had any problems with it (except now; the alarm isn't working. I think I know how to solve it, though). However, I'm sure this is merely a rare occurence.

Anyway, I personally do like the applications and the keypad; even if it does have small keys when you turn it to go into 'keyboard mode'. The camera's OK, if a little sensitive to movement... and NO FLASH!! *gasps* I also admit the battery life is pretty shoddy; it literally goes like this: "3 bars... *a few days later* 2 bars... *half a day later* 1 bar... *5 minutes later* 0 bars oh damn no battery left, goodbye..." It's a problem that quite a few phones have, unfortunately.

Altogether, although my phone and I have our disagreements ("You WILL go into camera mode!!" "Shan't!"), it never fails to make people go, "WOW!" It's a lovely little phone with its own special features. When I'm not taking a picture, playing a game, browsing the internet, texting a friend or whatever, I'm usually found using the doodling pad feature :P In short, it isn't one to be condemned with bad reviews. And there's something for everyone, too.

I had a warning from a friend about the battery life of similar models and sure enough i had to recharge the phone three times in one week and i had only made one phone call and recd one text!!!

Having problems with mine.   It is switching itself on for no reason and playing random songs out of the music file.    Annoying and embarrassing when in meetings.   Getting nowhere with orange about it.   Long time to wait till 2 year contract up

It's a nice phone but has three very nasty CONS to consider before purchasing:

1. Don't spend ages entering important birthdays etc because it's never ever successfully reminded me of any of them. Not a single one despite them all being set to remind the previous day/hour/week etc. I found this out to my cost twice, forgetting a nephew and an aunt's birthday.

2. Don't buy this if you intend to text on the move IE cyclng/walking/driving however brief the text. It's virtually impossible and you end up writing each word four times before you get it right. If you text whilst sat down somewhere unhurried you'll be fine.

3. The phone has an annoying auto-lock feature that puts it in standby after just a few seconds inactivity, despite me changing several settings and combinations. Even more annoying is that this key-lock is TOTALLY BYPASSED when somebody texts or you miss a call. I kept wondering why I was calling random people when it was in my pocket. In the end I noticed that it cincided with missed calls and/or missed text messages. I then discovered that it does indeed unlock the phone briefly when you receive a text!

4. Oh and sorry there is a fourth! When dialling a switchboard with an IVR (IE "press 3 for customer service" etc) it locks the phone when the call connects. You then have to unlock the phone, select the numerical keypad manually and input 'button 3'. Then, if the IVR asks for more button presses to go further into their system, you have to do the same all over again!

In the end it was too much for me and I sold it for cash and now use my son's old Sony Ericsson Walkman phone instead.

It's a shame really, as it does have some great features such as the internet which is great and the audio clarity is excellent. It will also display album cover art in the MP£ player mode which is nice. Shame about the cons above...

I couldn't make my mind up between the LG Cookie and the Samsung Tocco Lite (both close in comparison)so I went down to the CPW and they showed me how both of them worked. In the end I went for the Cookie and I love it! There's just one thing that sometimes occurs and that's when I'm editing a picture or on drawing mode the stylus doesn't interact like it should do. But other then that it's a great phone! Recommend!

Iv read loads of reviews but i am stil unsure wether to get the cookie or not

I ordered and paid for this phone online from car phone warehouse nearly three weeks ago and have still not received the full package. To date, their "customer services" dept seem unable or unwilling to resolve the issue.

The phone is fine. My advice is buy it elsewhere.

the cookie is a really fun phone and i disagree with all of the other reviews

it's really simple to use and the keyboard funtion makes texting so much easier.

the sound is really good quality but the camera is just ok but you can't expect too much for the price...

i'd recommend this phone to anyone.

This is a very annoying phone, what i mean by that is that everything on the phone is meant to be for female AND male, but its basically just for female with bright colourful displays and pictures with flowers smothering it!

I've had this phone for about 2 months now, and the screens broke! JUST LIKE ALL LG'S! It just smashed when i was sitting down with the handset in my pocket whilst i was playing my drums. A normal mobile wouldn't brake if someone sat down with it in its pocket!

i wanted a phone which was good with music too, but its rubbish with that too! Most of mY m8's admit that its better than their mobiles (LG VIEWTY)!

Im gunna try and get it repaired but if it costs more than £50 im just going to get a new phone!A SAMSUNG, the BEAT edition because thats good for musics and its a nice phone so...

Phone functions OK. Just beware if you intend to use this phone as a music player. The default player is very clunky and unless you start playing music by using the file browser it will play all your albums in Alphabetical order NOT the order of the tracks on the actual album.

Avoid if you like music.

I wish I hadn't listened to the online reviews that stated it was a great media player :-(

Had the phone for 3 weeks now.  Great little phone in lots of ways but I have had two problems:

1. LG Music Manager is rubbish.  I have gone through the very tedious routine for copying mp3 files from my PC.  Okay, that works - just about.  But when I create Playlists on the phone in LG Music Manager, the phone does not recognise them.  Only Playlists created on the phone are recognised.  Rubbish software!

2. Trying to 'Sync' my Calandar from Outlook 2007 worked okay the first time but try to update my calandar using 'Sync' and the whole thing crashes.  Every time I 'Sync' the process ends with the phone disconnecting and the message that 'syncronisation failed'

Does anyone know how to overcome these two bugs?

In general phone is OK but just hope you don't have a prob. CWF in 2 branches support is cr*p - they may be called customer advisors but they couldn't own a problem to solution to save their lives (call centres @ Talk mobile and vodaphone technical even worse!).

Anyone, anywhere have the manual settings to web connect this phone thru talkmobile - yes I know 'talk' should have but they don't and their auto connect system demonstrably doesn't work!!

fun phone = easy to use and nice for basic phone and text features - very poor range of games currently available for this phone and the camera is pretty poor with no flash - good value for the money if games and camera are not important to you

Got the phone a few days back, and it provides a great user experience. However we noted a few bugs, which are detailed below. I would appreciate it if other owners of KP500 try this, and let us know if you also face the same bugs.

Bug1:
I used the calendar widget to enter some appointments and birthdays. However when trying to access a date from the widget calendar to see the appointments, the phone reboots. It shows the LG logo and comes back to main screen.

Bugs 2: Calendar entries:
1 .when I save any appointment either as an anniversary or birthday and set the repeat as annual, it puts around 14 days of additional entries for the same appointment in all the subsequent months - 14 in Jan, 14 in Feb and so on.

2. I then changed the repeat to once and saved it, but that caused the whole appointment to be deleted from the calendar

3. I saved an appointment as repeating weekly and it saved just fine. However if you give an expiration date for the recurring appointment, then the whole appoitnment is deleted from the calendar

Bug 3: Alarm
I have saved a second alarm on my phone. However when the 2nd alarm rings, it shows the name/text from the 1st alarm, which reads Morning Alarm

Bug 4: Syncing with Outlook
I tried to use the sync tools to upload my contact list. I tried to upload from Outlook 2000 on my home computer, and Outlook 2003 in my laptop. It does not work with either. It starts to sync, reads all the contacts in Outlook (around 293 contacts), and then disconnects connection to the phone and provides a message that 'Synchronisation failed', but does not provide any comments/feedback about why it failed


We are still checking out all the features and will post more bugs as we find it. I am however keen to know if anyone else is facing the same problems

I've bought the new LG Cookie (KP500) from the carphone warehouse. I would say this is the best phone I have ever had, apart from one thing - it did not allow my partner to text me!?? Car phone warehouse were bery unhelpful, and o2 did their best to help. I have had the phone replaced, and the same problem is happening with this 2nd LG Cookie. If anyone knows how i can recitfy this, please help. I get the odd text, but the phone seemes to have blocked the rest, particuarly long texts that take up two texts.

The KS360 does not have a touchscreen display, it also lacks an alphanumeric keypad. This might be a serious downside, especially when it comes to dialing numbers, as the only numeric keys are on the QWERTY keyboard - which, unless slid out, it stays hidden under the display of the handset.  Get the cookie

I Really Want a phone for christmas and i was debating between the lg kp500 cookie or the lg ks360 please can someone help me x
