nokia 5310 review

Sony Ericson need be to on their guard as the Nokia Xpress music range have stepped up their pace, and released an excellent range of new music player based phones. At just 9.9 mm thin, making it a fantastic ultra-thin phone, and with its conventional design and 5 way navigation key and good sized standard keypad makes it a phone must have. The Nokia 5310 has 3 designated music keys located on the side of the screen and volume keys allocated on the edge. The Nokia 5310 is available in red or blue and is an easy to hold classic shaped music phone. We love the style , we like the feel. This phone is most definitely light and small enough to be carried anywhere, even when it's switched off, you can enjoy The Nokia 5310.
The 5310 is predominantly a music based phone so as well as a music and FM radio, the 5310 has support for Plays-lists, an Equalizer and album art. Listening to your music via the loudspeaker maybe a bit on the quiet side or preferably you can listen to the music through the stereo headset supplied. As an optional extra there is a Bluetooth® wireless headset. The audio quality on this music phone is faultless as the 5310 has a new upgraded audio chip. The great reality about this phone is there is a respectable amount of memory built in ( 30 Mbytes), but you would certainly want to kit the phone out with a memory card. The 5310 supports MicroSD™ cards with up to 4 Gbytes, which is enough memory for around 1000 songs. MicroSD™ cards are very inexpensive these days, for a 4GB is around £25, making it a great incentive to go for a maximum size available. Therefore making this phone as easy to use as a dedicated MP3 player or a Sony Ericsson Walkman phone.
As well as playing music and making calls the 5310 will do everything that you would require from a non 3G phone, making the 5310 not just a music phone. The camera on this phone has an adequate 2Mbytes. It does lack a flash to its discredit but will take great pictures in good light. With a high-res screen and an exceptionally good quality display makes the 5310 as good as anything in the same price bracket. This phone supports fast downloads using EDGE and has Opera Mini Browser built in, so you can browse the web and with it's large screen makes this possible. All this even though the phone isn't 3G. You can tailor the UI for the animated screensavers, wallpapers and downloaded themes. The phone has 3 built in games but you can also download other games from Java.
There is one fault with this phone and that is it's battery life. Nokia have stated the battery life has 300 hours standby, that calculates to 12.5 days. Depending on how much you use this phone and it's features, you will get 1–2 days use. With it being a music phone the usage of it will almost certainly be high so it will need to be charged most days. Don't fear, this will be the battery life of most phones of this status. The Nokia 5310 is an outstanding phone, it's ultra-thin has many, many features and a considerable sized LCD screen. If you are looking for a phone with a longer battery life then you are best getting another phone for example the SE W810i or SE W910i. There have been reports by users that their phone freezes or restarts itself. If this does happen, return it to the shop as this is not acceptable. If the problems do persist ask for a new phone.

Phone has bug when playing tracks via bluetooth to external headphones/ speaker, will play 1 track then disconnect.
Good phone for the money, like the fact it has a 3.5'' jack, so you can easily connect your favourite headphones (as long as they aren't bluetooth!)
Battery life 2-3 days with little use.

Ive always loved nokia so when upgrading I decide on the sleek Nokia 5310. All my other nokia phones, including the 6300, my last have been great. This phone was great for the first month until it started crashing. Had to keep rebooting it. Given up now and waiting for a replacement from the retailer.

THE 5310 IS THW WORST PHONE I HAVE EVER OWNED!!!!! CAN’T EVEN HEAR THE OTHER PERSON TALK. WHEN EVER I GET A TEXT IT FREEZES AND I HAVE TO TAKE THE BATTERY OUT TO REBOOT IT. WORST NOKIA EVER!!!!!!! ID RATE IT ZERO IF I COULD.

The Nokia 5310 is an awesome phone. The music player really is state of the art and supports several formats. However, would of liked a better battery and why didn’t nokia put a better camera in it, 2 mega pixel just doesn’t cut the crust anymore. Also had a major issue with the phone volume, seems really low. Other than that is a great phone.
