- Usage of old numbering scheme
I was just checking out information about the latest mobile phones and I came across the Nokia E73 Mode, which is still in the ‘rumor’ stage. Though it is expected that the device will be officially announced on June 2010, so it has a couple of week’s time. T-Mobile will be launching E73 Mode in the market, though there is no official confirmation from T-Mobile or Nokia. Not much of information is available on E73 but from the pictures it can be seen that the device bears great resemblance with Nokia E72. The mobile phone will feature a QWERTY keypad and hence it will be another addition in the range QWERTY devices by T- Mobile as T Mobile myTouch 3G Slide is also going to be announced soon.
Nokia E73 Mode is expected to bring the 3G capabilities along with Wi Fi and the integration of Ovi Store. The availability of these features is expected, but what seems to be surprising is the usage of the old numbering scheme by E73 Mode. Most of the latest devices by Nokia use the new numbering scheme. It is anticipated that the features of E73 will be better than that of Nokia E5, which is quite similar to the E72. The device will run on Symbian™ operating system version 9.3. So, it is going to be the combo of QWERTY and Symbian™.
Nokia E73 Mode brings customizable home screens-
There will be two customizable home screen for Nokia E73 Mode. One will be dedicated for &qout;life&qout; and the other will be dedicated for &qout;work&qout;. It implies that the mobile phone is aimed at both the business professionals and the general consumers. The “life” home screen makes the device a great source of fun as the users can download latest applications from the Ovi store while the &qout;work&qout; home screen will focus on the email applications and calendar to help the user stay connected to the work. There is no disclosure about the pricing as yet.
Nokia E73 Mode Review – the network support
The network support of the mobile phone is quite general. It is supportive of both second generation and third generation of networks. Those who choose to opt for the 2G network, they will get the support of the quad band GSM 850/ 900/ 1800/ 1900; while the 3G network users will get access to tri band HSDPA 900/ 1700/ 2100. With the presence of HSDPA internet browsing will be fast as the users can access their emails and other websites with this mobile phone. Apart from that, the internet browsing aspect is also supported by Wi-Fi® 802.11 b/g. Class 32 GPRS and EDGE also play a minor role in data accessibility of the mobile phone. Transferring and sharing data of the mobile phone with other compatible devices can be performed with v2.0 microUSB and Bluetooth® v2.0 with A2DP. Like the other latest devices, there is no infrared port in the mobile phone.
Nokia E73 Mode – the display
The overall appearance of E73 Mode is nothing extraordinary. It bears great resemblance with E5, but appears to be a bit slimmer. However, the precise details of the measurement of the device cannot be mentioned as there is no such information available as yet. This is just a preview and we are featuring details about the specifications available as of now. Let’s get back to the display aspects of the mobile phone. Nokia E73 Mode will supposedly feature a 2.36 inch TFT display that will boast 16 million colours and a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels. It brings in a full QWERTY keyboard with five way scroll key and optical track pad. Accelerometer sensor for auto rotate and tap for time are also included as the display feature of the mobile phone.
Nokia E73 Mode Review – the memory
Having a good memory support is very essential for any mobile phone. The smart phone comes with several features and applications, and hence it becomes essential to include sufficient storage capacity. Nokia E73 Mode is a device that is capable of serving the business needs as well as the general fun requirements. Therefore, it requires a decent storage capacity to smoothly play its various applications. The internal memory of the mobile phone is capable of storing practically unlimited phone book entries and call records. However, the memory can be expanded as per the usage requirement of the user by using the microSD™ memory card slot. The expandable memory option of the device is up to 16 GB.
Nokia E73 Mode – the camera
Camera always plays a deciding factor that influences the purchasing decision of a mobile phone buyer. Most of the BlackBerry mobile phones come with average camera features like 3.15 mega pixel varieties. E73 Mode, in spite of being a QWERTY phone like BlackBerry includes better camera option. It will feature a 5 mega pixel snapper with LED flash and auto focus. The resolution of the clicked images is said to be 2592 x 1944 pixels. The camera can record videos and there is a secondary camera as well.
Nokia E73 Mode – other multimedia features
Music lovers can enjoy stereo FM with RDS or they can play the built in music player. The music player can play MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ files. It also features a video playback for playing MP4/H.263 files. For further entertainment, games can be downloaded and installed in the mobile phone.
Overall, it seems that Nokia E73 Mode is a decent handset. It is aimed to better the offerings of E72, but it is already done by the E5 version. Now, we have to wait and see what more special features gets loaded in the E73 Mode to make it relevant in the present market of the mobile phones.
