Samsung have released four handsets on the trot into the Omnis range, this one being the Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO which is a full QERTY smart phone. The 3G Omnia PRO has a massive 3.5 inch AMOLED resistive touchscreen on the front of thisa sexy smart phone which uses 126 million colours to enhance the crystal clear user interface you will be able to use with the B7610. The resolution of the 3.5 inch touchscreen is 800 x 480 pixels which is enough to browse the internet in comfort. Although the OmniaPRO is fairly heavy at 159g and 16.2 mm thick we come to expect this front smartphones. All the toys and gadgets we love on these high end phones has to go somewhere. Using the on board Accelerometer sensor the handset will auto-rotate the screen depending where you have the QWERTY keyboard open or not. Internally there is an impressive 1GB of memory which is used by the 800 MHz processor, there is also an area of processing power dedicated to the graphics. The Samsung B7610 runs using the Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, these smartphones are beginning to sound more like PC’s than mobile phones. To ensure you don’t run out of memory there is a MicroSD™ card slot which will take up to 32GB! Very impressed.

Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO - Camera

Samsung have not skimped on the camera by included a 5 megapixel one on the Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO. As you would expect there is autofocus and an LED flash to enhance those pictures taken in dim lite conditions. The built-in GPS receiver is utilized by geo-tagging so you can tag a GPS location to the photo meaning you wont forget the location, ideal if you like to travel to lots of different places. There is also panorama and best shot features, panorama is especially good for landscape pictures. If you prefer to take videos over still images then the camera will let you do this. There is a second camera on the OmniaPRO designed for video calling. I am a little surprised manufacturers keep including this, personally I don’t know anyone who uses video calling. In case you decide you want to show your pictures to the world you could make use of the TV-OUT socket to display your photos/videos on a bigger screen.

Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO – Applications

If you are looking for a handset packed full of applications then the B7610 OmniaPRO might be the phone for you. I will just brush over the fact that is have a media player allowing you to listen to music and watch video as we kind of expect this now, check out the specification below for a full list of the different formats supported. The Business card scanner is one of the Omnia PRO impressive applications. It uses the 5 MP camera to scan the business card in question, reads the data from the business card and creates an entry in your contacts list. This app hasn’t worked too well in previous Samsung handsets but were hoping with the processing power of the OmniaPRO it will work a treat here. Pocket Office is included which pretty much does what it says on the tin, it will allow you to view and edit where appropriate Word, Excel, Powerpoint and PDF documents. Having the Work & Life mode allows you to have 2 different ways of using the OmniaPRO. It brings the most suitable features to the front depending which mode you are in. In life mode the handset brings to life the multimedia function whereas in work mode email and Office suite will be highlighted to use within the menu.

Connecting to other deivices or netowkrs with the Samsung B7610 has been made easy as pretty much everyway to connect is supported. If your looking for wireless connectivitiy then make use of WI-FI® for connecting to hotspots or Bluetooth® if you just need to connect to your car stereo.
