Sony Ericsson Zylo Review

Few months back Sony Ericsson announced a few high-end smart phones like Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 mini, SE XPERIA X10 mini PRO, and Sony-Ericsson-Vivaz-PRO. Now, the mobile phone company has made an announcement of handsets in its Walkman category. The Sony Ericsson Zylo is the newcomer in this range, and it is all set to provide the music lovers with best of experience. However, the highlight of Zylo by Sony Ericsson is not just restricted to the high-end Walkman-based music capacity, it has mingled with the trend of social networking as well. Therefore, the users of the mobile phone can enjoy the best quality of music and stay connected with friends over Facebook™ or Twitter™ with just a touch of a button. This provides the users with excellent facility to share their favourite music with friends. Background score is another hottest edition in the mobile phone. Now, the users can chat over the mobile phone while playing their favorite tunes in the background. Zylo brings in preloaded sounds that can provide a whole new experience of mobile phone conversation. Sony Ericsson Zylo is introducing FLAC format and this will provide the users with immaculate sound experience. Announced in the month of April, the mobile phone is expected to release in the third quarter of 2010.

Sony Ericsson Zylo – the music

Zylo by Sony Ericsson marks the revival of the extremely popular Walkman series of mobile phones. It has integrated some of the best music features to provide users with immaculate experience. One of the latest additions includes the TrackID™ feature. This feature allows the user to access the artist and name of a track, which is being played wherever they are. Music lovers love this function, which is evident from the fact that the year 2009 has witnessed lookups for 129 million TrackIDs. The handset is loaded with Walkman 4.0 player that is capable of playing FLAC, MP3, eAAC+, and WAV files.

Sony Ericsson Zylo – network and connectivity

Though Zylo belongs to the Walkman series, and it includes tremendous music features, the Sony Ericsson has managed to maintain the basic quite well. The handset includes good network and connectivity features, which is very important in the present scenario of mobile telephony. No matter what sort of excellent features are included in a handset, the availability of good network features is a must. This new mobile phone, therefore, comes with the power of both 2G and 3G networks. The 2G users of the mobile phone will get the support of the quad band GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900; while the 3G users can enjoy the dual band HSDPA 900 / 2100 support.

For transferring data, the users can access Class 10 GPRS and EDGE at the speed of 10 – 48 kbps and 236.8 kbps respectively. The users of 3G, can enjoy high speed browsing experience at HSDPA 7.2 mbps. There is no Wi Fi in Sony Ericsson Zylo. Transferring data to/from other compatible devices can be made with wire-based and wireless connectivity features. The users can establish cable connectivity for data transferring microUSB v2.0; while for wireless connectivity Bluetooth® v2.1 with A2DP can be used.

Sony Ericsson Zylo – the look and display

Zylo by sony ericsson looks immensely attractive. This stylish handset excels tremendously as far the looks are concerned. The handset will be made available in the market with a whole set of colours such as Jazz Black, Swing Pink, and Cha-cha Silver. The mobile phone is a slider, and it looks stylish when the slider is open or closed. On the closed form, the look of the phone is comprised of 2.6 inches TFT screen. The screen displays 256,000 colours and a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. The display feature is loaded with scratch resistant surface and accelerometer sensor for UI auto rotate. On top of the display screen, the logo of Sony Ericsson is placed. The bottom portion of the mobile phone includes the major functioning keys such as “Options" key, “Back” key, call button, end key, “clear” key, menu key, and music access key. To use the numeric keypad, the user needs to slid open the handset. The side panel of the handset comes with volume control and USB/charging ports. The back portion includes the camera lens and the logo of the company. OVERALL, the look of SE Zylo is very attractive and appealing.

Sony Ericsson Zylo – memory

The memory option of a mobile phone plays one of the most crucial roles. These days, availability of sound memory back up is a must as the mobile phone has become rich with spectacular features. The SE Zylo is a true-blue music phone, and it is for sure that the users will love to store lots of music files in the handset. If the handset falters with insufficient memory, then there is no point in making this mobile phone with cool music features. Apart from music, the handset is loaded with excellent video and gaming features as well and hence sound memory is a must.

Sony Ericsson Zylo includes 260 MB of internal memory. This much of memory is sufficient to store 2000 phone book entries and call records of thirty dialled, received and missed calls. Apart from the internal memory, the users can enhance the memory by using microSD™ cards up to 16 GB.

Sony Ericsson Zylo – camera and video

Apart from the above features, Zylo also excels in terms of entertainment. Entertainment is not just restricted to the high-class music features, the camera and video features are also appealing. The mobile phone comes with a snapper of 3.15 mega pixel that can click images with 2048 x 1536 pixels resolution. Other features of the camera include geo tagging and video calling. Video recording can be done with this camera and there is no secondary camera in the Zylo. Users can play videos in the mobile phone also. The video playback supports MP4, H.263, and H.264 files.
